Campgrounds and RV parks near Hamburg, NY

Hamburg sits on the eastern shore of Lake Erie in Erie County, roughly ten miles south of downtown Buffalo. The town works as a practical base for RV travelers who want lake access, day trips into Buffalo, and easy reach of the Canadian border at the Peace Bridge. Most campgrounds within an hour lie along the Lake Erie shoreline, either south along Route 5 in New York or across the border in Ontario's Fort Erie, Ridgeway, and Sherkston area. On the New York side, Evangola State Park is the closest full-service public campground. It offers three camping loops, a natural sand beach on Lake Erie backed by low Angola shale cliffs, and yurt and cabin options. Riverside Park Motel and Campground gives travelers a smaller, private option nearby. Across the border, Windmill Point Park, Pleasant Beach Campground, and Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores cluster along the north shore of Lake Erie in the Niagara region. These private resorts lean toward family stays with pools, quarries, and beachfront, and they put RVers within a short drive of Niagara Falls.

Evangola State Park uses New York's Reserve America system. Reservations can be made up to nine months ahead, online or by phone at 1-800-456-2267. Same-day reservations are accepted until 3 p.m., and walk-ins are permitted for campsites only. Summer weekends and holiday windows book out early, especially for electric sites. Private resorts across the border use their own systems. Windmill Point Park, Pleasant Beach Campground, and Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores accept online and phone bookings direct through their websites, and many sites at Sherkston and Windmill Point are seasonal rather than nightly. RV travelers from the U.S. should confirm passport, pet vaccination records, and any propane or firewood rules before crossing the Peace Bridge.
