Campgrounds and RV parks near Lewiston, NY

Niagara Falls State Park is the anchor attraction, with Cave of the Winds, the Maid of the Mist boat tour, and Goat Island trails all reachable in under twenty minutes from most area campgrounds. Whirlpool State Park offers hiking trails and views of the Niagara River Whirlpool, Artpark in Lewiston hosts concerts and theater performances in a scenic park setting, and Devil's Hole State Park is known for challenging trails along the gorge with river views. Old Fort Niagara at the mouth of the river holds musket demonstrations in season. Charter fishing for salmon, trout, and walleye runs out of Youngstown and Wilson harbors on Lake Ontario, and jet-boat trips through the Niagara Gorge rapids launch from Lewiston itself. Families with kids often add the Aquarium of Niagara, Lockport Cave, and the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda.

The Niagara camping season is short and concentrated. Four Mile Creek State Park operates from mid-May through early October, and Niagara Falls North / Lewiston KOA Journey runs an approximately mid-April through mid-October season. Ontario-side parks including Scotts Family RV Park run on a similar mid-spring through late-fall window. Outside these dates, RV travelers should plan on staying at year-round private parks farther from the river or in Buffalo. July and August are the peak, with warm days, festival weekends in Lewiston, and the highest visitor volume at the falls. Weekend sites at Four Mile Creek and the KOAs commonly sell out weeks or months in advance for this window. Late May, June, and September deliver similar sightseeing conditions with more site availability and easier parking at Niagara Falls State Park. Winter brings lake-effect snow off Lake Ontario, cold winds along the gorge, and closed campgrounds. Spring can be wet, and shoulder-season nights near the lake stay cool well into May.

Sites at Four Mile Creek are large and wooded, but hookups are limited. The campground offers a mix of electric and non-electric sites accommodating rigs from large motorhomes to tent setups, with no sewer connections at individual sites. Two dump stations handle waste, comfort stations include laundry facilities, and cell service can be spotty. Lake winds can be strong on bluff-side sites. Private parks in the area typically offer full hookups. The Lewiston KOA provides sites with 30- and 50-amp service, a mix of full-hookup and water/electric sites, pull-throughs for big rigs up to 75 feet, a dump station, propane, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a seasonal pool. Scotts Family RV Park offers big-rig access, full-hookup sites, laundry, a pool, and pet-friendly grounds. Expect New York State Park vehicle-use fees and, for cross-border trips, standard CBP and CBSA inspections at the bridge.
