Campgrounds and RV parks near Sloan, NY

Niagara Falls is the anchor attraction, roughly 20 miles north of Sloan and only a short drive from the Grand Island campgrounds. Visitors can pair a day at the falls with the Maid of the Mist boat tour, observation decks, and Niagara Falls State Park trails on the American side, then cross into Canada for the Skylon Tower and Clifton Hill. Closer to Sloan, downtown Buffalo offers the waterfront at Canalside and the Outer Harbor, the Buffalo Zoo, and the Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort sits along an eight-acre lake with fishing, boating, and a zip line, giving families an on-site option for lower-key days. For a state-park day trip, Letchworth's gorge and waterfalls sit about ninety minutes south, and Evangola's Lake Erie beach is roughly forty-five minutes southwest.

The RV season around Sloan runs roughly from May through mid-October, driven by both weather and campground operating dates. Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort is typically open from Memorial Day through October 31. The Niagara Falls / Grand Island KOA Holiday operates on a spring-through-fall schedule, generally opening in April and closing at the end of October. Nearby New York state park campgrounds typically run their electric loops from mid-May to mid-October. Summer is peak season. School-holiday weekends, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill sites at the Grand Island parks fast, and rates at some resorts ease outside the core season. Spring and early fall function as shoulder periods with easier availability but cooler weather and a higher chance of rain. Winter is a different picture. Buffalo has a humid continental climate with very snowy winters, often enhanced by lake-effect snowfall from the Great Lakes. Most private RV parks close for the season, and state park campgrounds shift to day-use or limited winter recreation such as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

Sites at the Grand Island resorts are geared toward RV families. Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort has about 68 sites, accepts RVs up to 60 feet, and offers pull-thru sites, full hookups, electric-and-water sites, and 20/30/50 amp service. The property adds a pool, playground, laundry, showers, a dump station, and Wi-Fi. The Niagara Falls / Grand Island KOA Holiday follows a standard KOA layout with a general store, jumping pillow, catch-and-release fishing ponds, and a seasonal outdoor pool. Traffic is the main practical wrinkle: I-190 crosses tolled bridges onto Grand Island, and the Peace Bridge and Rainbow Bridge into Canada can back up during summer weekends. Passports or equivalent documents are required for the border crossing, and lake-effect weather can shift quickly, especially near Lake Erie.
