Campgrounds and RV parks near Brices Creek, NC

Brices Creek sits just south of New Bern in eastern North Carolina, near the confluence of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. The area is a practical base for RV travelers exploring the coastal plain, with the Croatan National Forest to the south and the Crystal Coast beaches within an hour's drive. The Croatan is one of four national forests in North Carolina and the only true coastal national forest in the eastern United States, where pine forests, saltwater estuaries, pocosins and winding rivers come together, bordered on three sides by tidal rivers and Bogue Sound. RV options range from full-service private parks to national forest campgrounds. New Bern KOA Holiday sits along the Neuse River just north of downtown, while Dixon Landing RV Resort, Moonlight Lake RV Park and Campground, The Lakes RV & Cabin Resort, and White Oak Shores Camping and RV Resort extend the choices south and east toward Jacksonville and the coast. Brice's Creek itself anchors the Saltwater Adventure Trail, the only national forest saltwater trail in the nation. The route is about 100 miles long, starts near New Bern, and nearly circumnavigates the Croatan, with quiet paddling water for kayaking, fishing, and birding.

Private RV parks including New Bern KOA Holiday, Dixon Landing RV Resort, Moonlight Lake RV Park and Campground, The Lakes RV & Cabin Resort, and White Oak Shores Camping and RV Resort take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and holiday periods book earliest, especially riverfront sites. National forest campgrounds in the Croatan use Recreation.gov. Both Flanners Beach and Cedar Point can be booked online, generally up to six months ahead, and reservations must be made at least three days in advance. A small share of sites at each is held as first-come, first-served. The Croatan Ranger District can answer availability questions at (252) 638-5628. Big-rig drivers should confirm site length, hookup amperage, and low-clearance approaches before booking, since some forest loops are tight for longer coaches.
