Campgrounds and RV parks near Garysburg, NC

Garysburg sits in Northampton County in northeastern North Carolina, just south of the Virginia line and a short drive from Interstate 95. The town works well as a base for RV travelers heading to Lake Gaston, a large reservoir on the Roanoke River, or for those breaking up a long I-95 run between the Mid-Atlantic and the Carolinas. Options close to town lean toward interstate-friendly parks and lake-focused resorts. The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads sits near the I-95 corridor in Roanoke Rapids, while the Emporia/I-95 KOA and Emporia Campground / I-95 sit a short drive north across the Virginia border. For lake access, The Club Resort at Lake Gaston serves members on the reservoir itself. Farther south, the Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey gives travelers heading toward Raleigh or the coast another interstate stop. Lake Gaston straddles the North Carolina and Virginia line and covers roughly 20,000 acres with about 350 miles of shoreline, offering fishing, boating, and swimming as the main draws.

Private RV parks in the Garysburg corridor, including the KOA properties and interstate resorts, accept online bookings directly through their own sites or the KOA reservation system. Summer weekends and holiday periods around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out earliest, so reserving two to three months ahead is prudent for lakefront or pull-through sites. For North Carolina state parks such as Medoc Mountain, reservations run through the state's ReserveAmerica portal. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to six months in advance. A one-night minimum stay applies on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends when booked within 14 days of arrival. Membership-based properties such as The Club Resort at Lake Gaston restrict access to members and their guests, so travelers should confirm eligibility before planning a stop.
