Camping near Mount Pleasant, North Carolina
Mount Pleasant sits in Cabarrus County in North Carolina's Piedmont, about 30 miles northeast of Charlotte and a short drive from the Uwharrie region. The area gives RV travelers a base for motorsports weekends at Charlotte Motor Speedway, day trips to state parks, and quiet nights on farm properties without the density of a coastal destination.
Campground options range from small family-run parks to a large speedway resort. Yates Family Camping in nearby Harrisburg offers straightforward hookup sites, Cotton Patch RV Campground near New London sits closer to the Uwharrie and Badin Lake area, Tamarac Marina and Campground adds lake access north of Salisbury, and Dan Nicholas Park in Rowan County pairs a public campground with a full county-park amenity set.
For race fans, Camping World Racing Resort at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord is the closest full-service RV park with big-rig capacity. Renters can pick between quiet wooded sites and a purpose-built motorsports venue depending on the trip.
Things to do around Mount Pleasant
Motorsports drives the local calendar. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts NASCAR Cup, truck, and dragway events, and the Richard Petty Driving Experience runs ride-alongs at the same venue. The adjacent zMAX Dragway adds NHRA weekends.
History and outdoor options fill the rest of a trip. Reed Gold Mine in Midland preserves the site of the first documented gold find in the United States and offers underground tours and gold panning. Morrow Mountain State Park near Albemarle covers part of the Uwharrie Mountains with hiking, boating on Lake Tillery, and picnic areas, and the Uwharrie National Forest to the east adds trail systems for hikers, mountain bikers, and OHV riders.
Closer to camp, Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury includes a small zoo, paddle boats, and a nature center that works well for families.

March - May
70° / 46°F 95 mmPeak race weekends; book speedway sites early.
- summer
June - August
88° / 68°F 105 mmHot and humid; afternoon thunderstorms common.

72° / 48°F 90 mmCool nights and fall color; fall Cup race fills sites.
- winter
December - February
52° / 30°F 85 mmMild days, occasional freezes; most private parks stay open.
Spring and fall are the strongest windows. March through May brings mild days, blooming dogwoods, and comfortable evenings, and September through early November delivers cool nights and Piedmont hardwood color. Both shoulders coincide with major race weekends at Charlotte Motor Speedway, so RV sites within a 30-mile radius tighten well in advance of the Coca-Cola 600 in late May, the fall Cup race in October, and NHRA dragway events.
Summer runs hot and humid, with regular afternoon thunderstorms. Lake sites at Tamarac Marina and Campground and shaded parks handle the heat better than open speedway lots. Biting insects peak from June through August.
Winter is quiet and generally mild. Highs often reach the low 50s Fahrenheit, hard freezes are possible but brief, and snow is uncommon. Most private RV parks in the area, including Camping World Racing Resort, stay open year round, though some smaller campgrounds reduce services in January and February.

Cannot say enough good things about our experience renting from Corey. Very helpful with the renting process and what to expect. I chose the drop off option and it went very smooth - Corey gave a detailed rundown of the RV making sure I knew the basics. Everything was as described, well maintained, and just what we were looking for for our few days away. Corey was quick to respond when I had any questions and made sure everything was good. Highly recommend renting from Corey!

How to book campgrounds near Mount Pleasant
Private parks around Mount Pleasant take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites, and many are also listed on Good Sam and third-party marketplaces. Camping World Racing Resort books through Charlotte Motor Speedway and sells race-week inventory as event packages rather than nightly rates, with year-round daily camping available on non-event days.
North Carolina state parks such as Morrow Mountain use the state's central reservation system at ncparks.gov, which opens a rolling booking window up to six months ahead of arrival. County parks including Dan Nicholas Park take reservations through the Rowan County parks office.
For spring and fall race weekends, secure a site as soon as the NASCAR schedule is confirmed. For general weekends, two to four weeks of lead time is usually enough outside major events.
What to expect on the ground
Most RV parks in the area offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, dump stations, and Wi-Fi of varying quality. Camping World Racing Resort has 380 full hookup sites with pull-through and back-in options, including 30 by 100 foot sites that accommodate big rigs, while smaller parks like Cotton Patch RV Campground and Yates Family Camping lean toward quieter, tree-lined layouts.
Roads into the region are straightforward. I-85 and US-601 handle most RV traffic, and Mount Pleasant itself is reached by two-lane highways that are easy to tow on outside of race-day surges.
Cell coverage is generally strong across Cabarrus and Rowan counties. Grocery, fuel, propane, and RV service are available in Concord, Kannapolis, and Salisbury, all within a short drive.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Pleasant%2C%20North%20CarolinaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Mount Pleasant, NC?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mount Pleasant. North Carolina does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for the motorhomes and travel trailers you'll find on RVezy, whether it's a nimble Class B campervan or a 32 foot Class C. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens right inside the booking flow, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit and you're set to roll toward the Uwharrie Mountains.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my RV rental?
Yes. Every RV rental in Mount Pleasant booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, with no extra steps on your part. The protection plan covers eligible damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you'll choose your protection level at checkout based on the trip you're planning, whether it's a weekend at Morrow Mountain State Park or a 10 day North Carolina RV trip. If a tire blows on I-85 or you need a jump at a campground at midnight, one call gets help dispatched. That peace of mind is especially valuable for first-time renters.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Mount Pleasant RV rental?
You can book your Mount Pleasant RV trip with confidence because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not individual hosts. Your refund depends on how far you are from your trip start date when you cancel, and special circumstances like severe weather or natural disasters are reviewed by RVezy support. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy helps you get a refund or rebook on a comparable RV. You'll see the exact terms during checkout and inside your booking dashboard, so there are no surprises, just clear answers any time you need them.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on my Mount Pleasant RV trip?
Absolutely, and the Mount Pleasant area is a great place to travel with pups. Just filter for pet-friendly RV rentals in Mount Pleasant on RVezy and you'll see hosts who happily welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Nearby North Carolina state parks, including Morrow Mountain and Lake Norman State Park, allow leashed pets on trails and at campsites, and there's a popular off-leash dog area at Frank Liske Park in Concord, about 15 minutes from downtown Mount Pleasant. Bring vaccination records, a tie-out, and a collapsible water bowl since summer humidity can be tough on dogs. Tip: ask the host if the RV has tile or vinyl floors, which clean up easily after muddy trail days.
ncparks.gov/state-parks/morrow-mountain-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Mount Pleasant?
Yes, RV delivery in Mount Pleasant is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the RV to a nearby campground or even your own driveway, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no white-knuckle backing into a tight site and no figuring out the propane on your own. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location and are clearly listed on each listing. It's the easiest way to enjoy an RV trip without ever driving one.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Pleasant%2C%20North%20CarolinaHow many miles can I drive on my Mount Pleasant RV rental?
Plenty for almost any North Carolina adventure. Hosts in Mount Pleasant set their own mileage allowances, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some listings featuring RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for an RV road trip from Mount Pleasant to the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 130 miles to Blowing Rock) or down to Wilmington's beaches (around 200 miles). Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.45 each. To keep your budget tight, plan your route in advance, pick a host with generous mileage, and consider campervan rentals in Mount Pleasant, which often include better mileage allowances. Always confirm the policy on the listing before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Pleasant%2C%20North%20CarolinaWhat are the best campgrounds near Mount Pleasant, NC?
The best campgrounds near Mount Pleasant include Morrow Mountain State Park (about 25 miles southeast in Albemarle) with wooded sites and access to the Yadkin and Pee Dee rivers, Badin Lake Campground in the Uwharrie National Forest (about 30 miles east) for lakeside sites with electric hookups, and Frank Liske Park in Concord (about 15 minutes away) for family-friendly camping next to a dog park and playground. Lake Norman State Park (about 40 miles north) is the go-to for swimming and paddling. All of these are smart picks for an RV camping trip from Mount Pleasant with kids or pets.
ncparks.gov/state-parks/morrow-mountain-state-parkWhen is the best time to RV in Mount Pleasant, NC?
You can RV in Mount Pleasant almost year-round thanks to the mild Piedmont climate. The sweet spots are mid-April through early June and mid-September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the 70s, evenings are crisp, and the Uwharrie hardwoods explode with color in October. Summer (June through August) brings highs in the upper 80s to low 90s with high humidity and occasional thunderstorms, so look for an RV with strong AC. Winters are mild with daytime temps often in the 50s, making December and January good for budget travelers and Charlotte Motor Speedway off-season visits. October is the local favorite for cool nights around campfires.
weather.gov/gsp/I'm a first-time RV renter. Will I be okay?
You're going to be more than okay, and Mount Pleasant is a great place for your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedures so nothing is a mystery. You can message the host with questions before you even book, and most are happy to share local tips like which gas stations off Highway 49 are easiest for big rigs. If you'd rather skip the driving, choose a host who delivers and sets up. Tip: ask for a Class C or travel trailer under 25 feet for your first trip, they're the easiest to maneuver on Cabarrus County back roads.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002007173-For-rentersWhat happens if my RV breaks down during the trip?
Help is one call away, 24/7. Every RV rental in Mount Pleasant booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so whether you've got a flat tire on US-601, a dead battery at Badin Lake, or a slide-out that won't retract, you'll reach a real person on the phone and a service truck can be dispatched. RVezy's support team is also available before, during, and after your trip to coordinate with the host. Most issues are solved on the spot. Tip: snap a photo of your RV's VIN and license plate before you leave pickup so you can quickly share details if you ever need service.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV rental from Mount Pleasant to other states?
Yes, you can cross state lines on your North Carolina RV trip. Popular routes from Mount Pleasant include the Blue Ridge Parkway into Virginia (about 3 hours to the entrance near Fancy Gap), Myrtle Beach, SC (about 3.5 hours southeast), Great Smoky Mountains National Park (around 4 hours west), Charleston, SC (about 3.5 hours south), and Asheville (around 2.5 hours west). Travel within the U.S. and most of Canada is allowed with host approval, but travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Always confirm out-of-state plans with your host through the message thread before booking, especially for longer or one-way trips.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Mount Pleasant RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to plan for. Class C motorhomes in this area average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 MPG), and Class B campervans can hit 16 to 20 MPG. With North Carolina gas prices typically below the national average, a weekend round trip from Mount Pleasant to Morrow Mountain State Park (about 60 miles total) will run roughly $20 to $30 in fuel for most rigs. Tip: Sheetz stations along I-85 and larger truck stops in the region have RV-friendly pumps with high canopies and easy pull-throughs.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Mount Pleasant?
For the best sites near Mount Pleasant, plan to book 2 to 4 months ahead for peak weekends (April through October) and up to 6 months ahead if you want a prime waterfront spot at Morrow Mountain State Park or Lake Norman State Park. North Carolina State Parks take reservations through their official system, which opens bookings well in advance, while federal sites in the Uwharrie National Forest use Recreation.gov. For Charlotte Motor Speedway race weekends (the Coca-Cola 600 in May and the Bank of America Roval in October), book any nearby campground as soon as dates are announced. Tip: Tuesday and Wednesday nights almost always have openings even in summer, perfect for a midweek family RV trip from Mount Pleasant.
recreation.gov/What are driving conditions like around Mount Pleasant?
Driving an RV around Mount Pleasant is refreshingly easy compared with bigger metros. The town sits on rolling Piedmont terrain with two-lane state highways (NC-49 and NC-73) connecting to I-85 about 20 minutes west, where you'll find wide lanes and gentle grades. Avoid downtown Charlotte during weekday rush hours (roughly 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6:30 PM) and stick to I-485 to bypass the city. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can roll in fast, so plan driving for mornings. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural roads. Tip: the Cabarrus County back roads to Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site are scenic and RV-friendly, an underrated local route.
ncdot.gov/travel-maps/Pages/default.aspxWhere can I dump tanks and fill water near Mount Pleasant?
You have solid options. Most full-hookup campgrounds near Mount Pleasant, including Frank Liske Park in Concord, offer on-site water fill and dump stations included with your stay. Morrow Mountain State Park has a dump station for registered campers and potable water spigots throughout the campground. For travelers passing through, several Flying J and Pilot truck stops along I-85 between Concord and Salisbury offer dump and fill services for a small fee (typically $10 to $15). Tip: always dump the black tank first, then the gray, to rinse the hose, and keep disposable gloves in your storage bay because most stations don't supply them.
ncparks.gov/state-parks/morrow-mountain-state-parkWhat amenities come with an RV rental in Mount Pleasant?
More than you'd expect. Most motorhome rentals in Mount Pleasant come fully equipped with a real bed (or two), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof AC, furnace, and seatbelts for travel. Many hosts include extras like a TV, outdoor awning, camp chairs, leveling blocks, and even bedding and towels. Generators and solar are common on Class B campervans for off-grid trips to Uwharrie. WiFi is usually not built in, but most of the Charlotte metro has strong cell coverage so a hotspot works well. Always review the listing's amenities list, and message the host to confirm anything specific you need before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Pleasant%2C%20North%20CarolinaWhat add-ons can I get, and how does pickup work?
Lots of helpful extras are available. Mount Pleasant hosts commonly offer add-ons like delivery and setup (often priced per mile), bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, outdoor grills, generators, bike racks, and pre-stocked propane tanks. Pickup usually happens at the host's home or a mutually agreed location like a campground entrance, and includes a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough of the RV. Drop-off mirrors pickup, with the RV expected back at the agreed time, fueled, and with tanks dumped (unless your host waives that). Tip: ask about a late-checkout add-on if you want a relaxed Sunday morning after a Charlotte Motor Speedway weekend.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Pleasant%2C%20North%20CarolinaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and fully handled through the RVezy platform: you pay by credit or debit card at booking, and your money is held securely until your trip starts, so funds never go directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after a smooth return, typically within a few days. To avoid deductions, do a thorough walk-around with your host at pickup and drop-off, take dated photos of the interior and exterior, return the RV with fuel and propane at the same levels, and dump the tanks if required. Clear, secure, and protected end to end.
