Campgrounds and RV parks near Pine Knoll Shores, NC

Pine Knoll Shores sits on Bogue Banks, a barrier island on North Carolina's Crystal Coast, between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle. The town itself is largely residential, with the North Carolina Aquarium and the Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area at its core, so RV parks cluster on the mainland side of Bogue Sound and along the causeway corridors near Morehead City, Newport, and Beaufort. Most rigs stage there and cross the bridge for beach days. Close-in private options include Waters Edge RV Park and Whispering Pines RV Park and Campground, both within a short mainland drive of Bogue Banks. Farther east toward Beaufort, Goose Creek RV and Camping Resort, Beaufort Waterfront RV, and Beaufort Waterway RV Park put travelers within reach of the Beaufort historic waterfront and the Cape Lookout ferry landings. For public land, Croatan National Forest wraps the mainland north of Pine Knoll Shores, and Cape Lookout National Seashore stretches between Ocracoke Inlet and Beaufort Inlet across 56 miles of undeveloped barrier islands, both accessible as day or overnight trips from a base camp near town.

Private RV parks near Pine Knoll Shores, including Waters Edge RV Park, Whispering Pines RV Park and Campground, Goose Creek RV and Camping Resort, Beaufort Waterfront RV, and Beaufort Waterway RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For federal lands, Cape Lookout cabin reservations and Off-Road Vehicle permits are handled through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777, with the seasonal booking window typically opening in early January. Primitive beach camping on Core Banks is dispersed and does not take reservations. Croatan National Forest campgrounds are also handled through Recreation.gov.
