Campgrounds and RV parks near Calcutta, OH

Beaver Creek State Park is the main draw. Trails lead to historic canal locks and through a steep-walled gorge, and the park features 23 miles of bridle trails winding through the valley. Paddlers can run Little Beaver Creek, a state and national wild and scenic river, when flows allow. Families often base at Family - Beaver Creek State Park for easy access to Gaston's Mill and the pioneer village, and stream fishing yields smallmouth bass and rock bass. Equestrian - Beaver Creek State Park gives riders direct access to the bridle network on the Sprucevale Road side of the park. At Tomlinson Run State Park, expect a swimming pool with a waterslide, mini-golf, paddleboats on the lake, and short wooded trails. Kennedy Marina Park offers Ohio River access for boaters, and White Thorn Lodge operates as a clothing-optional club.

Peak RV season runs from late spring through early fall. Tomlinson Run's campground is open spring through fall, weather permitting, with a contact station, convenience store, dump station, and two bathhouses with showers and laundry. Its camper cabins are available to rent between April and October. Beaver Creek State Park's Family Campground is open for reservations through reserveohio.com, with peak rates running April through October and reduced rates the rest of the year. Winter service is limited and access can be restricted by snow or ice, though visitors can enjoy sledding and cross-country skiing when conditions permit. Spring brings high water on Little Beaver Creek, wildflowers along the gorge, and mud on the bridle trails. Summer weekends fill fastest, especially around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Fall foliage typically peaks in mid to late October and offers a strong shoulder-season window with cooler nights and open sites. Biting insects taper off after the first frost.

Sites in this area lean rustic. At Beaver Creek State Park's Family Campground, expect wooded sites with picnic tables and fire rings, six electric sites, and 39 non-electric sites. Pit toilets are provided, but the park does not offer a shower house or a camper filling station, though a drinking fountain and bottle fill station are available. Access requires attention to routing since Echo Dell Road prohibits RVs and trailers, so campers must approach the Family Campground via Leslie Road. Tomlinson Run is more developed. All campsites are suitable for tents and trailers with picnic tables and fire rings, and a large share of sites offer electric hookups. Campers can use a laundry facility, two bathhouses with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, and a convenience store. Cell coverage in the valley is uneven, terrain is hilly, and shaded sites stay cool but can be tight for larger rigs.
