Campgrounds near Campbell, Ohio
Campbell sits in Mahoning County in northeastern Ohio, just southeast of Youngstown and within a short drive of the Pennsylvania border. RV travelers using Campbell as a base can reach a mix of private family parks and a large Ohio state park within roughly thirty to forty-five minutes, most via Interstate 80.
The closest options lean private and family-oriented. Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground sits on a wooded property in nearby Hubbard, roughly halfway between Pittsburgh and Cleveland and a short drive from Youngstown. Hubbards Haven Family Campground, Western Reserve Campground, and Chaparral Family Campground round out the private choices, all catering to weekend and seasonal RV travelers.
For a larger public setting, Mosquito Lake State Park in Trumbull County near Cortland offers 234 sites across several loops, with full-service, standard electric, non-electric, and walk-in tent options. The park sits on one of Ohio's largest inland lakes and is the main draw for boaters and anglers staging out of the Campbell area.
Things to do near Campbell
Water recreation anchors most trips. Unlimited horsepower boating is permitted on portions of the 7,850-acre Mosquito Lake, and multiple launch ramps provide access to the water. Fishing is popular throughout the year, with common catches including walleye, bass, crappie, and northern pike.
On-shore activities suit families with kids. A 600-foot sandy beach is open for swimming in summer, and campers can use an 18-hole disc golf course, an archery range, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoes, and playgrounds. A 5-acre off-leash dog park has separate areas for small and large dogs plus a lake swim area.
At the private parks, expect lake or pond swimming, playgrounds, pavilions, and weekend events. Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground features a small lake for swimming and fishing, along with playgrounds and picnic areas.

The core RV season in this part of Ohio runs from May through October, matching most private campground calendars. Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground, Hubbards Haven Family Campground, Western Reserve Campground, and Chaparral Family Campground follow a similar warm-weather schedule, with organized activities concentrated between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Mosquito Lake State Park is the main year-round option. The campground is open all year, with full amenities including showerhouses available from April 1 through October 31. Winter camping from November 1 through March 31 operates with reduced services: showerhouses are closed, pit latrines are available, and there is no potable water at full-service sites. The park's two yurts overlook the water and are available from mid-April through October.
Summer weekends fill fast, especially around holidays. Shoulder months of May, September, and early October usually offer cooler nights, thinner crowds, and good fishing, while lake-effect snow can affect travel in late fall and winter.

We had the most amazing trip and lived in luxury renting from Starla! We had EVERYTHING we needed from clean beds, blankets, kitchen supplies, utensils, towels, and even awesome movie sections for our kids to watch at night. We were celebrating our son’s bday and she even put a little treat in the fridge for him. It was so sweet and he loved it. I am looking forward to renting again in the future! Who would’ve thought camping could ever be so easy and relaxing?!?! I cannot thank you enough Starla for the amazing trip we had!! 💕

How to book campgrounds near Campbell
Booking splits cleanly between the state and private systems. Reservations for Mosquito Lake State Park are made through reserveohio.com or by calling (866) 644-6727, up to six months in advance. Yurts and lakeview sites go first, so booking as soon as the window opens is recommended for peak-summer weekends.
Private parks such as Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground, Hubbards Haven Family Campground, Western Reserve Campground, and Chaparral Family Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Holiday weekends and themed event weekends tend to sell out well ahead, so contact the park early and confirm rig length, hookup type, and pet policies before locking in dates.
What to expect at Campbell campgrounds
Sites in this area range from basic electric to full hookup. Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Campbell, OH
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Campbell, OH?
An RV rental in Campbell is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Mahoning Valley. Travel trailers typically start around $75 to $125 per night, Class C motorhomes generally run $150 to $250 per night, and larger Class A coaches range from $200 to $350 per night. Because RVezy hosts set their own pricing, you can filter by price range to find a cheap RV rental in Campbell that matches your budget. Pro tip: midweek bookings from Sunday through Thursday are noticeably cheaper than weekend pickups, and booking 60+ days ahead of summer trips locks in the best rates before Lake Milton and Mosquito Lake fill up.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Campbell%2C%20OhioWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Campbell, OH?
Good news for first-time renters: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Campbell. Ohio does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes or travel trailers rented through RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens right inside the RVezy platform during booking, so there are no extra trips to a government office. Visiting from outside the United States? Bring your home-country license along with an International Driving Permit if your license is not in English. With paperwork out of the way, you can focus on planning your route to Mill Creek Park or Hocking Hills.

Yes, every RV rental in Campbell booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right into the booking. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, so a stray branch on a wooded site at Lake Milton State Park or a curb tap pulling into a Boardman fuel station does not have to ruin your vacation. During checkout, you choose the level of coverage that fits your comfort level, so the decision is in your hands. You will also have RVezy customer support a phone call away from pickup through drop-off, which is exactly the safety net most first-timers want.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Campbell, OH trip plans change?
Plans change, and RVezy has you covered with a clear, standardized cancellation policy that applies to every booking. Cancellation terms depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. The policy is set by RVezy, not individual hosts, so you get the same predictable framework whether you book a campervan in the Campbell area or a fifth wheel from a Youngstown-area owner. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help with a refund or rebooking credit. You can review the full details on the RVezy Help Center before booking, which makes saying yes to your Ohio adventure feel low-risk.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Campbell, OH?
Absolutely. Plenty of hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Campbell that travelers love bringing their dogs along on. Just check the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy when searching, and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers where dogs are welcome (some hosts charge a small pet-cleaning fee, which is shown upfront). Once you're on the road, your pup will love the trails at Mill Creek MetroParks, the shoreline paths at Lake Milton State Park, and the wooded campsites at West Branch State Park where leashed pets are allowed. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any breed or size notes, so your four-legged co-pilot is set.
millcreekmetroparks.org/Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Campbell, OH?
Yes, RV delivery in Campbell is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many owners will drive the rig to your campsite at Lake Milton State Park, Berlin Lake, or even your driveway in Campbell, Struthers, or Youngstown, then level it, hook up water, sewer, and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. To find it, toggle the Delivery filter when you search for a motorhome rental in the Campbell area, and you'll see each host's delivery radius and per-mile fee. It's the easiest way to skip the stress of towing or backing in, so you arrive to a ready-to-enjoy RV.

nps.gov/cuva/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Campbell, OH for RV camping?
You're in a sweet spot for RV camping near Campbell, with several great campgrounds within an hour. Lake Milton State Park (about 20 miles west) offers electric sites on a 1,685-acre reservoir perfect for boating and fishing. West Branch State Park near Ravenna (about 35 miles northwest) has nearly 200 sites with electric hookups. Berlin Lake's Mill Creek Recreation Area (about 25 miles south) is run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers shaded lakeside sites. ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/lake-milton-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in Campbell, OH?
Northeast Ohio's sweet spot for an RV trip runs from late April through mid-October, with two standout windows. Late May through June brings 70 to 80°F days, blooming wildflowers in Mill Creek Park, and fewer mosquitoes than midsummer. Late September into mid-October is arguably even better: the Mahoning Valley's hardwood forests light up with red maples and golden oaks, daytime temps sit around 60 to 70°F, and campsites at Lake Milton are easier to grab. July and August are warmest (often 82 to 88°F) and busiest. Winter RVing is possible with the right cold-weather rig (look for heated tanks), but expect snow and lake-effect squalls from December through February.
weather.gov/cle/I'm a first time renter, will I get help figuring out the RV?
You're in great hands. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at your campsite if you choose delivery), so first time renting an RV in Campbell feels totally manageable. Your host will walk you through starting the generator, dumping tanks, using the awning, leveling, and connecting at hookup sites like those at Lake Milton State Park. They'll share their contact info, so a quick question on day two is just a text away. Plus RVezy's customer support is available throughout your trip. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short video of the key systems during the walkthrough so you've got a handy reference for later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002438453-For-RentersWhat happens if I get a flat tire or break down near Campbell, OH?
Take a breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat on I-680, a dead battery at Lake Milton State Park, or a tow situation along the Ohio Turnpike (I-80), help is one phone call away. The dispatcher can send a tire change, jump start, fuel delivery, or tow to the nearest qualified service center in the Youngstown-Warren area, which has several RV-capable shops. Your host is also a great second line of support, since they know their rig best. Save both numbers in your phone before pulling out of the driveway and you'll roll with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Campbell, OH RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is completely fine. Your Ohio-based RV rental is welcome in Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Michigan, and beyond, which makes Campbell a fantastic base for a multi-state loop. Popular routes include Campbell to Pittsburgh (65 miles), Campbell to Niagara Falls (215 miles), and Campbell to the Adirondacks (around 400 miles). Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed by many hosts but requires confirming the host's approval and bringing your passport, so message the host before booking. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Otherwise, the open road is yours.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting is easier than most people think. Class C motorhomes around Campbell typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon on regular gas, Class A coaches sit around 6 to 10 mpg, campervans (Class B) can reach 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (often 10 to 14 mpg combined). Ohio gas prices are usually below the national average. For a 300-mile weekend loop from Campbell to Cuyahoga Valley and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $120 in fuel at current prices. Pro tip: the Pilot and TA travel centers along I-80 in nearby Hubbard and Girard have RV-friendly lanes.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Campbell, OH?
Earlier is better, especially for summer. Ohio State Parks like Lake Milton and West Branch open reservations up to six months ahead through the ReserveOhio system, and prime weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day often sell out 60 to 90 days in advance. For Berlin Lake's federal Corps of Engineers sites, use Recreation.gov, also six months out. Private parks in the area usually have more last-minute openings. Pro tip: midweek Sunday-through-Wednesday stays are almost always available even in July, which pairs perfectly with cheaper midweek RV rental pricing in Campbell on RVezy. Fall foliage weekends in October book fast too, so plan ahead.
reserveohio.com/What are driving conditions like around Campbell, OH?
Driving an RV around Campbell is very manageable. The area sits at the crossroads of I-80 (Ohio Turnpike) and I-680 with mostly flat to gently rolling terrain, no mountain passes, and well-maintained roads. Watch for low clearances on some older downtown Youngstown rail underpasses, stick to designated truck and RV routes when possible, and check Ohio Department of Transportation alerts in winter for lake-effect snow off Lake Erie. Fueling is easy thanks to RV-friendly Pilot and TA travel centers along I-80. With a little route planning, drivers new to larger rigs find the Campbell area a comfortable place to gain confidence behind the wheel.
