Campgrounds and RV parks near De Graff, OH

Water is the main draw. Indian Lake supports powerboating, jet skiing, water skiing, and fishing, and the state park operates public beaches, a camper swimming pool, and a paved 3.5-mile bike path along the west and south banks. Kiser Lake is the counterpoint, a no-motor lake favored for sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish. On land, hiking is low-key but pleasant. Kiser Lake State Park has a network of short trails through wooded and wetland terrain, and Indian Lake offers shoreline walks plus the paved bikeway near the campground. Nearby side trips include the Piatt Castles at West Liberty and Mad River Mountain east of Bellefontaine.

The core RV season in this part of Ohio runs from April through October. Ohio State Parks treats November 1 to April 1 as the off-peak season at Kiser Lake, and reservations at the state parks are typically made through the peak months, with winter camping shifting to a more limited, first-come pattern. Indian Lake's campground is busiest from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when the pool, beaches, and camper facilities are in full swing. Summer weekends and holidays fill fastest, especially waterfront and full-hookup loops at Indian Lake and the limited electric sites at Kiser Lake. Booking several weeks ahead is realistic for midweek stays, and closer to the six-month window for holiday weekends. Shoulder months bring quieter campgrounds and cooler nights. Late September and October are strong for fall color and fishing, while spring can be wet and muddy but light on crowds. Under proper winter conditions, Indian Lake allows snowmobiling on the frozen lake and ditches, and Kiser hosts sledding, ice fishing, and ice boating.

Terrain around De Graff is rolling farmland and glacial moraine with mature hardwoods near the lakes. Indian Lake's campground is large, with hundreds of sites laid out in loops; full-hookup areas are more open and exposed, while other loops carry more shade from oak, sycamore, and maple. Expect a busy, family-oriented atmosphere in summer, with a swimming pool, sand beach, dog beach, and camp store on site. Kiser Lake is smaller and quieter. Most sites are non-electric, electric sites can accommodate rigs up to about 55 feet while non-electric sites are shorter, and the campground has a dump station but no full hookups. Cell service is generally usable but inconsistent, and summer thunderstorms can move through quickly, so plan awnings and outdoor gear accordingly.
