Campgrounds and RV parks near East Palestine, OH

East Palestine sits in Columbiana County in far eastern Ohio, right on the Pennsylvania border, roughly 20 miles south of Youngstown and 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The village works well as a base for RV renters because it puts state parks in three states within an hour's drive, and the terrain shifts quickly from rolling farmland to the wooded gorge country of Little Beaver Creek. The closest full-service public campground is at Beaver Creek State Park, a forested park of roughly 2,700 acres in the Appalachian foothills built around a state and national wild and scenic river. Beaver Creek runs two separate camps: a family campground on Leslie Road and an equestrian camp on Sprucevale Road, both administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Private options round out the picture. White Thorn Lodge Family Nudist Campground lies just across the state line in Pennsylvania, Valley View Campground is a short drive east near Wampum, and Kennedy Marina Park sits on the Ohio River in Newell, West Virginia, offering river access and a mix of hookup and primitive sites.

Beaver Creek State Park uses the state's central reservation system. Campsites at both the family camp and the equestrian camp are reservable through reserveohio.com or by phone at 1-866-OHIOPARKS. Campsite reservations can be made up to six months in advance of the arrival date, and as late as the day of arrival, so summer weekends and fall color weekends should be locked in early. Ohio does not charge a state park entrance fee and does not sell an annual pass, which keeps day-use simple. Private campgrounds in the area, including White Thorn Lodge Family Nudist Campground, Valley View Campground, and Kennedy Marina Park, book directly through their own websites or by phone, and Kennedy shuts its RV park down for the winter after October 31.
