Campgrounds and RV parks near Quincy, OH

Water recreation drives most itineraries. Kiser Lake State Park spans 531 acres of rolling wooded hills around a 396-acre lake with about 5 miles of shoreline and several boat ramps. Motors are not permitted on Kiser Lake, so sailing, paddling, and rowing dominate, with a launch ramp and public docks available. The lake produces largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and wiper, and five fishing piers are located on the water. On land, four hiking trails cover about 4.5 miles inside Kiser Lake State Park, including the Red Oak trail in the family camp area, the Pine Tree and Possum Hollow trails near the group camp, and the North Bay Trail that follows the shoreline for 1.5 miles. Indian Lake to the north adds powerboating, larger beaches, and a longer paved trail network for families traveling with bikes.

The prime camping window runs from late April through mid-October, with peak demand on summer weekends and holidays. Booking well in advance is advisable, especially for summer weekends and holidays when the campground fills quickly. Shoulder months bring cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier last-minute reservations, though some private resorts scale back amenities after Labor Day. Winter is quiet but not closed. Ohio State Parks designate November 1 to April 1 as the off-peak season, and reservations at Kiser Lake are only possible from April to October, while during the winter season all campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Under the proper winter conditions, park guests can enjoy sledding, ice fishing, and ice boating. Spring brings the wettest stretch of the year, with May typically the rainiest month, and can leave low-lying sites soft, so travelers with heavy rigs should confirm site conditions before arrival. Fall foliage typically peaks in mid to late October across Logan and Champaign counties.

Expect a rural, agricultural setting with two-lane approach roads and limited cell service in patches near the lakes. Sites at state park campgrounds skew toward electric and non-electric loops without full hookups. The Kiser Lake campground has no full hookups but does have electric, and all campsites share drinking water, restrooms, and a dump station on the Main Campground. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. Private resorts in the area generally offer more infrastructure such as full hookups, laundry, camp stores, and pools, and cater to seasonal campers alongside short-stay guests. Some feedback indicates bathroom facilities are inconsistent, and many sites lack shade and privacy, so travelers who want tree cover should request shaded loops when reserving.
