Campgrounds and RV parks near Dewar, OK

Water recreation drives most trips in this area. Lake Eufaula supports bass and crappie fishing, boating, waterskiing, and swimming, with multiple public ramps around the shoreline. Checotah / Lake Eufaula West KOA Holiday adds a swimming pool and family amenities on the private-park side. On land, Lake Eufaula State Park has hiking trails including the Bluebird Trail, horse stables, an 18-hole disc golf course at Hummingbird Beach, and the Deep Fork Nature Center with naturalist programs. At Red Oak Area - Okmulgee/Dripping Springs Lake Recreational Area, a 3.5-mile hiking trail traces the Okmulgee Lake shoreline, and Dripping Springs Lake is known as Oklahoma's first designated trophy bass lake, with abundant standing timber that shelters trophy fish.

Late spring and early summer are peak camping season around Lake Eufaula, and lakeside sites at the state park fill quickly on holiday weekends. Reservations for Oklahoma State Parks open up to eleven months ahead, so booking early for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day is standard practice. Summer heat is real: July and August daytime highs regularly reach the low to mid 90s Fahrenheit, and shaded sites are worth targeting. Spring brings the highest rainfall of the year, with May the wettest month, and it is also the peak of severe-weather season in Oklahoma. April and May carry the state's highest tornado risk, so RV travelers should monitor NWS alerts and know the location of shelters at their campground. A secondary uptick in severe storms can occur in the fall. Fall offers the most comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, and color along the wooded shorelines. Winter camping is possible; Lake Eufaula State Park, the KOA, and the Okmulgee/Dripping Springs area all operate year-round, though some amenities run on reduced schedules.

Sites near Dewar range from developed lakefront loops with paved pads and full hookups to semi-modern sites with water and electric only, plus primitive tent areas. Lake Eufaula State Park lists 35 full-hookup RV sites, 65 water-and-electric sites, and 93 tent sites across its loops, with coin-operated laundry at Dogwood Drive Campground and yurt lodging for non-RV guests. At Checotah / Lake Eufaula West KOA Holiday, big rigs will find pull-through sites with 30 and 50-amp service. The Okmulgee/Dripping Springs area is simpler by design: the Dripping Springs area alone offers 76 semi-modern RV sites and 69 primitive tent sites, with lighted boat ramps, showers, and ADA-accessible restrooms. Cell coverage can be spotty in the more remote loops. Wildlife sightings of deer, armadillos, and songbirds are common in campground areas.
