Campgrounds and RV parks near Justice, OK

Oologah Lake anchors most outdoor plans. The reservoir covers nearly 30,000 acres with more than 200 miles of shoreline, and prevailing winds have made it one of the most popular sailing lakes in the area. Fishing targets include black bass, crappie, paddlefish, walleye, blue and channel catfish, and hybrid striped bass. The Will Rogers Country Centennial Trail runs 18 miles from Blue Creek Park to the spillway and is open to hikers and horseback riders. In Claremore, visitors can stop at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum, and Claremore Lake. Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs hosts a thoroughbred meet in winter and spring and a quarter horse, paint, and Appaloosa meet in fall, alongside daily simulcasts. Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch, also called Dog Iron Ranch, keeps Texas Longhorn cattle and other livestock on a 400-acre lakeshore pasture and includes the two-story birth home, picnic areas, and lake views.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in Rogers County. May is typically the wettest month, with a monthly average around 132 mm of rain, frequent thunderstorms, and the highest severe weather activity of the year. Travelers planning May trips should track forecasts closely and choose parks with sturdy shelters or nearby storm-safe buildings. Summer runs hot and humid, with July highs averaging in the low 90s Fahrenheit. Oologah Lake is at peak use for boating, swimming, and sailing, and Corps of Engineers campgrounds fill on weekends. Shade at sites like Redbud Bay and Hawthorn Bluff, both set among post oak and blackjack oak forest, helps offset the heat. Fall brings cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer storms, and the quarter horse meet at Will Rogers Downs runs from early September into November. Winters are mild by northern standards but can bring cold snaps, ice, and occasional snow. Corps campgrounds around Oologah Lake typically operate from April through October, while private parks such as Redbud Marina and RV Park and the KOA remain open year-round.

Most RV parks near Justice cater to travelers rather than long-haul destination campers, so expect functional layouts, gravel or paved pads, and easy highway access. The KOA offers long pull-thru sites with full hookups, plus tent sites, laundry, showers, and a playground. Claremore RV Park has full hookups with 30/50-amp service on paved sites. Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Oologah Lake trend more rustic. Sites typically include 30-amp electric, flush and pit toilets, dump stations, boat ramps, and playgrounds, though full sewer hookups at the pad are uncommon. Redbud Bay sites include water in addition to electric. Cell coverage varies away from Highway 169. Storms move through fast in spring and early summer, so choose sites with tree cover for shade but not directly under weak limbs, and know where the nearest bathhouse or storm shelter is before settling in.
