On land, families can hike the Keystone Ancient Forest trails through old-growth post oak and cedar, or visit the children's fishing pond or the park's playgrounds. ATV/ORV areas are located close by below the dam, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park adds structured kid-focused activities including water features and organized events. The Kellyville area has a humid subtropical climate with sharply defined seasons. Summers are hot, winters are cold with occasional snow, and spring is the wettest time of year. Late spring through early fall is the practical camping window, with lake activities peaking from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Spring brings the strongest severe-weather risk. Oklahoma sits within Tornado Alley, and tornado activity peaks from April through June. A secondary uptick in tornado activity typically occurs in the fall, most notably in October and November. RV travelers should monitor NWS Tulsa alerts and identify shelter locations at their campground on arrival. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, and Keystone Lake is the go-to spot for Tulsans to escape the city heat, with July and August getting crowded down by the lake, though it's often warm enough to swim and enjoy water sports from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Fall is the most comfortable stretch, with warm days, cool nights, lower humidity, and thinner crowds after Labor Day. Seasonal activities, including boat rentals and the swim beach, are closed outside of this period, but you can still camp year-round.

Keystone State Park offers three campgrounds: Red Carpet, Green Country and Lake Country, with RV sites with full hookups including 30- or 50-amp electric. Comfort stations with showers are available near the campsites, pets are allowed in the park, and there is dump station access for visitors. Sites are a mix of pull-through and back-in; many are lakeside but shade varies. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the Keystone Lake area on major carriers. The nearest full grocery and fuel stops are in Sand Springs and Mannford; Kellyville itself has limited services. Bring water shoes for the rocky shoreline, insect repellent for summer evenings, and a NOAA weather radio during spring and fall storm months. Check-in times and quiet hours vary by campground, so confirm with the specific property before arrival.
