Campgrounds and RV parks near Morris, OK

Water recreation is the headline. Lake Eufaula covers roughly 102,000 surface acres with hundreds of miles of shoreline, and it draws visitors for fishing, boating, and swimming, with public ramps, marinas, and swim beaches spread around the reservoir. Dripping Springs Lake was designated as Oklahoma's first Trophy Bass Lake, and visitors can enjoy swimming and fishing there, though no water sports are allowed, which keeps it calm for kayaks. On land, Lake Eufaula State Park adds a nearby 18-hole golf course, an 18-hole disc golf course at Hummingbird Beach, and the Deep Fork Nature Center with naturalist programs. Bluebird Trail and mountain-bike routes wind through the park. Okmulgee itself offers the Creek Council House Museum and small-town dining, while Tulsa's zoo, aquarium, and museums are an easy day trip north.

Spring is the greenest season and among the wettest, with May typically the peak precipitation month. Severe thunderstorms and tornado watches are common from April through early June, so RV travelers should track NWS Tulsa forecasts and know where the campground's shelter or restroom block is located. Summer runs hot and humid. Highs sit in the low 90s Fahrenheit from June through August, and lake weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day fill quickly at both Lake Eufaula State Park and the Corps of Engineers parks. Reserve early for holiday weekends. Fall brings the most comfortable RV weather: warm days, cool nights, and lower humidity. The wooded shoreline of Okmulgee Lake turns color in October and early November. Winter is mild but variable, with occasional hard freezes and ice storms. Many private parks stay open year-round, though some water hookups may be winterized during cold snaps.

Public campgrounds around Lake Eufaula and the Okmulgee lakes range from full-hookup pads to primitive tent pull-offs. The Okmulgee and Dripping Springs recreation area alone offers around 123 semi-modern RV sites plus dozens of primitive tent sites spread across five campgrounds, so match your rig's needs to the loop when booking. Expect shaded, oak-dominated sites at the Okmulgee area parks and more open, lake-view sites at state-park loops. Cell coverage is generally reliable near Morris, Checotah, and Okmulgee but can drop in wooded coves. Bring insect repellent for spring and summer, extra drinking water for hot afternoons, and a weather radio. Firewood is often sold at park offices. Check local burn-ban status before arriving, as eastern Oklahoma issues bans during dry stretches.
