Campgrounds and RV parks near Verdigris, OK

Oologah Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir just north of Verdigris, anchors most outdoor plans. The lake covers nearly 30,000 acres with over 200 miles of shoreline and supports boating, sailing, and fishing for black bass, crappie, catfish, and hybrid striped bass. The Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch sits on the lakeshore, and Redbud Marina and RV Park puts renters on the water for day boating and paddling. In Claremore, the Will Rogers Memorial Museum and Will Rogers Downs, a Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse track paired with a Cherokee Nation casino, are short drives from any of the local RV parks. Tulsa is roughly a half-hour west and delivers the Gathering Place, the Philbrook and Gilcrease museums, and the Tulsa Zoo. Families splitting time between city and lake often pick a base like Hall of Fame RV Park or Tulsa NE / Will Rogers Downs KOA Journey.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable RV windows around Verdigris. Spring highs climb from the mid-50s Fahrenheit in March to the mid-70s in May, but May is the wettest month, averaging around 132 mm of rainfall over roughly 16 rainy days. Severe thunderstorms and tornado watches are common across northeast Oklahoma in April and May, so travelers should monitor NOAA weather radio and pick sites with sturdy shelters nearby. Summer is hot and humid. July and August average highs near 90 to 92 degrees Fahrenheit with overnight lows in the low 70s, and afternoon heat indices routinely push higher. Lake use peaks from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and Corps of Engineers sites at Oologah fill on holiday weekends. Fall cools quickly after mid-September and brings drier, calmer weather. Winters are short but genuinely cold: January averages a high near 46 degrees Fahrenheit and a low near 30. Many private parks stay open year-round, while several Corps campgrounds around Oologah reduce services in the off season.

Most private RV parks around Verdigris offer level gravel or concrete pads with 30 and 50 amp service, full hookups, and Wi-Fi. Pull-through sites are common and can accommodate larger Class A rigs and fifth wheels. Shade is variable: newer parks tend to have young trees, while older parks along the river and near Claremore offer more mature canopy. Corps of Engineers campgrounds at Oologah Lake are more rustic, with mostly 30-amp electric loops, flush and pit toilets, showers, dump stations, and boat ramps. Cell coverage is generally solid on major carriers throughout Rogers County. Summer brings mosquitoes, chiggers, and ticks, particularly near the lake and river bottoms. Travelers should carry repellent, secure trash against raccoons, and stay alert for severe weather warnings. Propane, groceries, and RV supplies are easy to find in Claremore and Owasso.
