Campgrounds and RV parks near Coquille, OR

The coast is the main draw. Bullards Beach State Park covers nearly 1,300 acres at the mouth of the Coquille River and includes a 4.5-mile beach stretching north from the Coquille River Lighthouse, with roughly 11 miles of hiking and biking trails through coastal forest, meadows, and dunes. Bandon, just south, has tide pools, an Old Town district, and the cliffs at Face Rock. North of town, the Coos Bay and Charleston area offers Shore Acres State Park gardens, Sunset Bay, and Cape Arago. Cape Blanco Lighthouse, roughly an hour south by road, offers guided tours seasonally from April through October. Anglers fish the Coquille River for salmon and steelhead, and crabbing is popular off the public docks in Bandon and Charleston. Families with kids often head to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area north of Coos Bay for sandboarding and OHV rentals.

Summer is the peak window. July and August are the most popular months due to warm temperatures and low rainfall, and conditions tend to stay warm and dry well into September. Expect coastal state parks and private RV parks near Bandon to fill weeks ahead during these months. August is the warmest period, with average highs near 71°F and lows near 50°F. Spring and fall are quieter shoulder seasons with cooler temperatures, more rain, and easier site availability. Winter and early spring are the best windows for gray whale watching along the south coast. A note for beach access: from March 15 through September 15, beach restrictions are in effect at Bullards Beach during western snowy plover nesting season, with foot and equestrian traffic limited to wet sand only and other recreation prohibited in posted areas. Winters are mild but wet, with December the wettest month at the local Coquille station. Snow is rare. Broader coastal totals in the area run considerably higher than the in-valley Coquille gauge due to maritime influence.

Coquille itself is a small timber town with full services: grocery, fuel, propane, and laundromats. RV parks in town tend to be straightforward hookup-style sites rather than resort properties. Cell coverage is reasonable in town and patchy in the surrounding hills and river canyons. At coastal parks, expect wind, fog, and cool nights even in summer. Campfires may be banned during periods of elevated wildfire danger, and at extreme levels even propane and gas stoves can be restricted. Check the posted fire status on arrival. Quiet hours at Oregon State Parks run 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Pets are welcome at most parks on leash. Drones are prohibited at Bullards Beach State Park and other oceanside parks managed by Oregon State Parks for visitor and wildlife safety.
