Campgrounds near Green, Oregon
Green is an unincorporated community in Douglas County, just south of Roseburg along Interstate 5 in southern Oregon's Umpqua Valley. The location puts RV travelers within easy reach of the South Umpqua River, the wineries of the Umpqua Valley, and the corridor leading east on Highway 138 toward the North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River and Crater Lake National Park.
Private RV resorts dominate the immediate area. Wildlife Safari sits a short drive west near Winston, a drive-through safari and zoological park covering 615 acres of pastures and field enclosures, and several full-hookup parks cluster along the rivers and around local golf courses. Rising River RV Park, Wildlife Safari RV Area, On The River Golf and RV Resort, Rivers West RV Park, and Bar Run Golf & RV Resort are the closest options.
Public camping is also within reach. John P. Amacher County Park sits on the North Umpqua River north of Roseburg, and the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service run developed campgrounds east of town along Highway 138 toward the Cascades.
Things to do near Green
The signature local attraction is Wildlife Safari in Winston. The drive-through safari and zoological park features 615 acres of pastures and field enclosures visitors drive through in their own vehicle, and the full drive takes about an hour and a half. The free Safari Village contains the park's retail, dining, and customer service amenities, and families staying at Wildlife Safari RV Area are on the doorstep.
On the water, the Umpqua system offers steelhead and salmon fishing, swimming holes, and whitewater rafting. The highway east of town travels alongside the Upper Rogue and North Umpqua Wild and Scenic Rivers, which contain world-class fisheries. The North Umpqua Trail and the hike to Watson Falls are popular day trips east of town.
Golfers can play on-site at Bar Run Golf & RV Resort or On The River Golf and RV Resort, and the surrounding Umpqua Valley has a dense cluster of tasting rooms.

Roseburg and the Umpqua Valley have a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The warmest month is July, with an average high near 86°F, while the coolest month is January, with an average low near 35°F. Summer is the peak RV season: long, dry days, low rainfall, and active river recreation. Wildfire season is a real consideration in late summer, when hot, dry conditions raise fire risk, so travelers should monitor smoke and closures.
Spring and fall are quieter shoulder seasons with mild temperatures and lighter crowds. May to June and September to mid-October are commonly cited as the best times to visit Roseburg, with comfortable daytime weather and rivers still flowing strongly in spring.
Winter is the wettest stretch. December is the wettest month, averaging about 5.5 inches of precipitation, while July is the driest at roughly 0.2 inches. Many private RV parks in this area stay open year-round, but expect rain, fog, and short daylight from late November through February.
How to book near Green
Private RV resorts near Green typically take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends and the stretch from late June through Labor Day fill earliest, so booking several months ahead is wise for summer trips, especially at parks with pools, golf, or river frontage.
For public campgrounds, the booking systems differ by agency. Oregon State Parks accept reservations at most state park campgrounds, and reservations can be made one day to six months in advance, with new sites opening on a rolling basis at 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Campsites on U.S. Forest Service lands can be booked through Recreation.gov six months in advance, and some BLM campgrounds also take reservations through Recreation.gov. Lakeside campgrounds around Diamond Lake and Lemolo Lake fill quickly in summer, so reserve early and have a backup plan.
What to expect near Green
The RV parks closest to Green are full-service properties geared to travelers passing along I-5 or settling in for a few nights. Expect paved or gravel pads, 30 and 50 amp hookups, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi at the resort-style parks. Bar Run Golf and RV Resort runs a pool with a lazy river and inner tubes to float on, with lifeguards on duty, which is a draw for families with younger kids.
Public sites east on Highway 138 are more rustic. Most Umpqua National Forest campgrounds have flush or vault toilets, but less than half provide potable water, and electric hookups are not available at any campsites. Cell service is limited throughout much of the forest, particularly in deeper valleys and remote areas.
Noise can vary by park. Sites near the interstate carry road noise; riverside sites trade that for the sound of moving water.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Green is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when searching and you'll see listings from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) in their rigs. Many charge a small pet fee or deposit, which you'll see right on the listing. Once you're on the road, your pup will love it here: Whistler's Bend Park along the North Umpqua allows leashed dogs, and the Wildlife Safari drive-through in nearby Winston even has a dedicated kennel so you can enjoy the park while your dog naps in the shade. Pack a towel for muddy paws after riverbank adventures.
douglascountyor.gov/802/ParksCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Green, OR?
Yes, RV delivery Green is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite at Whistler's Bend, Amacher Park, or even a private driveway in Green, Roseburg, or Winston, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's home base. To book it, just filter listings by Delivery on RVezy and message the host with your campground name. It's the easiest way to skip towing nerves entirely.
douglascountyor.gov/807/CampgroundsHow far can I drive on my Green, OR RV rental?
You've got serious range from Green, OR. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies: many include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and a good number offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold for longer road trips. Popular distances from Green include Crater Lake National Park (about 110 miles east, roughly 2 hours 15 minutes), the Oregon Coast at Reedsport (about 75 miles west), Eugene (70 miles north), and Bend (180 miles northeast). If you're plotting a big loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings first, then message the host to confirm your route before you book.
nps.gov/crla/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Green, OR?
You're surrounded by some of the best campgrounds near Green, OR. A few favorites for RV camping Green: Whistler's Bend Park (a Douglas County park about 20 minutes east on the North Umpqua with full-hookup loops), Amacher County Park (right off Interstate 5 north of Roseburg, riverside sites), Susan Creek Campground on Highway 138 (a beautiful BLM-managed forested option), Pass Creek County Park near Curtin, and Charles V. Stanton Park in Canyonville. Douglas County Parks lets you reserve sites between 3 days and 11 months in advance online, and winter rates run from November 1 to February 28 if you want a quieter, cheaper stay.
douglascountyor.gov/807/CampgroundsWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Green, OR?
The sweet spot for RV rental Green Oregon runs from late May through early October, when daytime highs in the Umpqua Valley climb from the upper 60s into the 80s and 90s in July and August. June and September are arguably the very best months: dry, warm (70s to low 80s), fewer crowds, and Crater Lake's Rim Drive is usually open July through October. Winters are mild and rainy here (40s to low 50s with little snow at valley elevation), which means RV camping Green is actually a year-round option. Spring brings wildflowers along the North Umpqua Trail and is fantastic for steelhead fishing.
weather.gov/mfr/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Green, OR?
You're going to do great, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup: how to level, hook up water and power, dump tanks, run the propane and generator, and operate the slide-outs. Green sits right off Interstate 5 with wide, flat lanes, which is ideal for getting comfortable before heading east on Highway 138 toward Crater Lake. Stick to daylight driving the first day, take wide right turns, and watch your overhead clearance at gas stations. You can also message your host anytime during the trip with questions.
oregon.gov/odot/safety/pages/index.aspxWhat if I break down during my Green, OR RV trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 138, a dead battery at Diamond Lake, or a tow back from the coast is one phone call away. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Green, because cell service drops in the Umpqua National Forest and along stretches of the North Umpqua Highway. Your host is also a quick text away for questions about quirks of their rig, and RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trips from Green, OR?
You're perfectly positioned for an epic RV road trip from Green, OR. Top routes: head east on Highway 138 to Crater Lake National Park (about 110 miles, with waterfall stops at Toketee, Watson, and Whitehorse along the way); drive west on Highway 138 to the Oregon Dunes at Reedsport and Winchester Bay (about 75 miles); cruise Interstate 5 north to Eugene (70 miles) for breweries and the Willamette Valley; or push south to Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (about 110 miles). Cross-border into Canada or Mexico isn't allowed on RVezy rentals (Mexico has no coverage), but the Pacific Northwest is wide open.
nps.gov/crla/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Green, OR RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, but it's easy to budget. Most Class C motorhomes you'll rent in Green get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs around 6 to 10, campervans 14 to 20, and a truck pulling a travel trailer about 10 to 13. Oregon gas prices have been hovering around $3.80 to $4.30 per gallon recently. A round-trip from Green to Crater Lake (about 220 miles) in a Class C at 10 mpg works out to roughly $85 to $95 in fuel. Fill up in Roseburg or Sutherlin before heading east on Highway 138, since prices climb at the smaller stations near Diamond Lake.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Green, OR?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best riverside sites. Douglas County Parks (including Whistler's Bend, Amacher, Pass Creek, and Stanton) open reservations up to 11 months in advance and you can book online 24/7 or call weekdays. For summer weekends from late June through August, aim to lock in your site 4 to 6 months out, especially riverside spots. Federal campgrounds like Susan Creek and Diamond Lake book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Pro tip: midweek sites are easier to snag and Douglas County drops rates November 1 through February 28 for a peaceful winter stay.
recreation.gov/What are driving conditions like around Green, OR?
Driving around Green is refreshingly easy by RV standards. Interstate 5 runs right through with two wide lanes each direction, gentle grades, and frequent exits in Roseburg, Winston, and Sutherlin. Heading east on Highway 138 toward Crater Lake, the road narrows and twists along the North Umpqua River with some 25 to 35 mph curves, so take it slow and use pullouts to let faster traffic by. Winter can bring chain requirements over the Cascade passes (Highway 138 east of Diamond Lake), and summer wildfire smoke occasionally affects visibility. Check TripCheck.com from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) before any mountain drive.
tripcheck.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Green, OR?
You'll find a great mix. Douglas County parks like Whistler's Bend and Amacher offer full-hookup RV sites (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), flush toilets, hot showers, and dump stations. Umpqua Dunes near Reedsport recently added 26 new full-hookup sites for coastal trips. National forest campgrounds along Highway 138 (Susan Creek, Toketee, Diamond Lake) tend to be more rustic: potable water, vault toilets, and no hookups, so you'll rely on your RV's tanks. For dumping and freshwater fills between trips, Roseburg has public dump stations and most county parks allow non-guest dumping for a small fee. Bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose to reach Oregon's sometimes-distant spigots.
douglascountyor.gov/807/CampgroundsWhat's included inside a typical RV rental in Green, OR?
You'll be impressed by how turn-key these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental in Green, OR comes with real beds (queen or king in the bedroom, plus convertible dinette or bunks), a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, propane stove, and oven, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, a furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Class A and Class C motorhomes typically have onboard generators for boondocking. Bedding, kitchenware, and outdoor chairs vary by host, but many include them or offer them as add-ons. Check the listing's amenities section and message your host if anything specific matters to you.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Green%2C%20OregonWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in Green, OR make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and propane fills. Pickup is usually at the host's home or a nearby meeting point, and the orientation walkthrough takes 30 to 60 minutes, so don't rush it. Mileage policies vary: many hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. Late returns can incur charges, so plan your final drive home with buffer time. Pro tip: ask about a generator add-on if you're heading to non-hookup sites like Toketee or Diamond Lake.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Green%2C%20OregonHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Green, OR, you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your money protected. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized separately on your card before the trip starts, and the amount is shown on the listing. As long as you return the RV on time, with the right fuel level, tanks emptied per the host's instructions, and no damage beyond normal wear, the hold is released after the trip ends. Pro tip: take timestamped photos of the rig at pickup and return to avoid any disputes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Green, OR during the winter?
Yes, and it's a beautiful, quieter way to see the Umpqua Valley. Many hosts in Green keep their rigs available year-round, and you'll find lower nightly rates plus discounted campground fees at Douglas County Parks from November 1 through February 28. Valley winters are mild (40s to low 50s with rain rather than snow), so RV camping near Roseburg is easy. If you're heading up Highway 138 toward Diamond Lake or Crater Lake, expect snow and chain requirements; ask your host whether the RV has heated tanks, a working furnace, and a shore-power cord rated for cold weather. Steelhead season on the North Umpqua peaks December through March, an insider tip locals love.
