Campgrounds and RV parks near Lookingglass, OR

Lookingglass is a small rural community in Oregon's Umpqua Valley, about seven miles west of Winston and roughly nine miles from downtown Roseburg via Lookingglass Road. The area sits in oak-covered hills and former dairy valleys, with Interstate 5 just east at Exit 119 providing the main approach for RV travellers heading up or down the West Coast. Most RV camping near Lookingglass clusters around Winston and Roseburg along the South and North Umpqua Rivers. Wildlife Safari RV Area sits closest, directly across from the drive-through wildlife park on Safari Road. Rising River RV Park and Twin Rivers Vacation Park anchor the riverside options, while Bar Run Golf & RV Resort and On The River Golf and RV Resort pair full-hookup sites with golf courses. This stretch of the Umpqua Valley works well as a base for the Wildlife Safari, river fishing on the North Umpqua, wine touring, and as a stopover between the Oregon Coast and Crater Lake National Park, which is roughly a two-hour drive east via Highway 138.

Private RV parks in the area, including Wildlife Safari RV Area, Twin Rivers Vacation Park, Bar Run Golf & RV Resort, Rising River RV Park, and On The River Golf and RV Resort, are booked directly through each park's website or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, reserve several weeks ahead. Douglas County Parks runs 11 reservable campgrounds across the region, including Whistler's Bend and Amacher near Roseburg. Reservations open 3 days to 11 months in advance through the county's online system or by phone, with a flat reservation fee per site and reduced low-season rates from November 1 through February 28. Umpqua National Forest campgrounds along Highway 138 and at Diamond Lake are booked through Recreation.gov, with no electric, water, or sewer hookups at most Forest Service sites. Oregon State Parks use a separate system at oregonstateparks.org and now allow same-day online reservations statewide.
