Campgrounds and RV parks near Nyssa, OR

Nyssa sits along the Snake River in eastern Oregon's Malheur County, on the Idaho border about an hour west of Boise. The town markets itself as the Thunderegg Capital of the World and serves as a practical base for RV travelers heading into the high desert, the Owyhee Mountains, and the Snake River corridor. RV options close to town are small and utility-focused. River Point RV Park and Rivers Edge RV Park sit near the river, while Neat Retreat RV Park and Country Corners RV Park And Campground offer full-hookup sites a short drive from the highway. The Malheur County Fairgrounds also accepts RVs and is a common overflow option during community events. Most travelers use Nyssa as a launch point rather than a destination, with Lake Owyhee State Park to the south and the Boise metro area to the east. Because Nyssa itself has limited lodging, RV sites in town book quickly during festival weekends and rodeo dates.

Private RV parks in and around Nyssa, including River Point RV Park, Rivers Edge RV Park, Neat Retreat RV Park, and Country Corners RV Park And Campground, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Inventory is small, so call ahead for summer weekends and during Thunderegg Days in July. For Oregon State Parks, including Lake Owyhee, reservations are accepted online through the state's reservation system or by phone at 800-452-5687, from one day up to six months in advance. New sites release at 6 a.m. Pacific each morning. Malheur County Fairgrounds RV sites in Ontario are booked through the fairgrounds office. Public lands managed by the BLM Vale District south and west of Nyssa offer mostly first-come, first-served dispersed and developed sites.
