Campgrounds and RV parks near Roseburg, OR

The Wildlife Safari in Winston is the area's top family draw, a 615-acre drive-through park where visitors view lions, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, and elephants from their vehicle. Staying at Wildlife Safari RV Area puts campers next door to the entrance. The Umpqua River corridor delivers the rest of the trip. Anglers target chinook and coho salmon, steelhead, and smallmouth bass depending on the season, and rafters can pick anything from gentle floats to whitewater stretches. The Umpqua River Scenic Byway (Highway 138) climbs east toward Toketee Falls, Susan Creek Falls, and the route to Crater Lake. Closer to town, the Umpqua Valley wine region offers self-guided tours, and several historic covered bridges sit within an easy day-trip loop from any of the Roseburg-area RV parks.

Roseburg has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. July and August are the warmest and driest months, with average highs near the mid-80s Fahrenheit and very little rain, which makes mid-June through early September the peak window for RV travel and the busiest period at private resorts. Spring and fall are the shoulder seasons. May, June, September, and October bring comfortable temperatures, lower booking pressure, and good river conditions, though March still sees frequent rainy days. Fall is well suited to wine touring and Umpqua River fishing once summer heat fades. Winter is the wettest stretch, with December typically the rainiest month and fog lingering in the valley during late fall and winter mornings. Snow is uncommon in Roseburg itself but routine at higher elevations along Highway 138 toward Crater Lake, where the Rim Drive closes for snow from roughly November into June. Some seasonal campgrounds along the North Umpqua close or reduce services in the off-season.

Private resorts in the valley generally provide full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pet areas. Riverfront sites at parks such as Rising River RV Park and Twin Rivers Vacation Park are limited and tend to book first. Several resorts, including Bar Run and On The River, sit alongside golf courses, so expect a quieter, manicured setting rather than a wilderness feel. Public campgrounds along the Umpqua run smaller and more rustic. Tyee Campground offers nonelectric sites, potable water spigots, restrooms, horseshoe pits, and river access, but no hookups and no cell service. Roads through the river canyons are narrow with tight turns, so check site length limits before towing larger rigs east on Highway 138.
