Campgrounds and RV parks near Langeloth, PA

Raccoon Creek State Park is the anchor attraction. The Wildflower Reserve protects 700+ plant species across 4.5 miles of trails through oak-hickory forest, pine plantations, meadows, and riparian habitat. Raccoon Lake supports swimming from a sand beach, fishing, and non-powered boating. Tomlinson Run State Park adds hiking and biking trails, a swimming pool, fishing in the lake, boat and kayak rentals, and paddle boating, along with disc golf and miniature golf on the developed side. Boat rentals are available on the lake. Off-park, the rural highways around Washington County pass covered bridges, antique shops, and Meadowcroft Rockshelter, a National Historic Landmark on 19th-century rural life. Pittsburgh sits about 28 miles north, putting museums and stadiums within roughly a 40-minute drive from Raccoon Creek.

The main camping season in this region runs from spring through fall. At Raccoon Creek State Park, modern loops E and F open in early April through mid-October, while loops A, B, C, and D operate from late May through mid-September, and Sioux Rustic Campground is open year-round in a more primitive form. Tomlinson Run State Park's campground is open spring through fall, weather permitting, with five camper cabins available to rent between April and October. Spring brings wet, changeable weather and the first wildflower blooms, peaking at Raccoon Creek in late April. Summer is warm and humid with the busiest weekends around Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day; the park draws heavy crowds from the Pittsburgh area on holiday weekends. It is warm enough to swim at the lake from late May through mid-September. Fall is often the most stable season for RV travel, with cooler nights and foliage typically peaking in mid-October. Winter is cold with regular snowfall; most modern loops close, private RV parks reduce services, and only limited rustic camping remains available.

At Raccoon Creek State Park, 172 modern tent and trailer campsites have access to flush facilities, warm showers, and the option of electricity, along with an amphitheater, playground, and dump station. Cell service is unpredictable in and around many Pennsylvania state parks, so downloading maps before arrival is recommended. Bringing firewood into Pennsylvania is prohibited to help protect the forest from invasive insects, so purchase wood locally on site.
