Campgrounds near Midland, Pennsylvania
Midland sits on the Ohio River in Beaver County, in the far western tip of Pennsylvania where the state meets Ohio and West Virginia. The location gives RV renters access to three different state park systems within roughly a half-hour drive, plus riverfront and private options closer to town.
Raccoon Creek State Park is one of Pennsylvania's largest and most visited state parks. Sioux - Raccoon Creek State Park is a rustic group camping area within that park. Across the Ohio state line, Beaver Creek State Park sits in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and includes Little Beaver Creek, a state and national wild and scenic river, and 2,722 acres of forest wilderness, with the Equestrian - Beaver Creek State Park camp serving horse campers.
South of Midland, Tomlinson Run State Park lies in Hancock County at the northern tip of West Virginia's Northern Panhandle, along the Ohio River. Closer to town, Kennedy Marina Park offers river access, and White Thorn Lodge Family Nudist Campground provides an adults-only alternative.
Things to do near Midland
Water dominates the itinerary. Raccoon Lake is warm enough for swimming from late spring through early fall, while winter visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating when conditions allow. The Wildflower Reserve at Raccoon Creek State Park contains one of the most diverse stands of wildflowers in western Pennsylvania, with trails winding through oak-hickory forest, pine plantations, meadows, and riparian forest.
At Tomlinson Run, families gravitate to the developed side of the park: the swimming pool features a waterslide, a bathhouse, and a snack bar, and both a disc golf course and a miniature golf course have been built on site. Beaver Creek State Park adds history to the mix, with Gaston's Mill, a pioneer village, and abandoned canal locks to explore.
Mountain bikers can ride wooded singletrack, and equestrians have an extensive bridle-trail network through the Beaver Creek valley.

Beaver Creek State Park's family campground operates year-round with reservations required, and the equestrian camp follows a similar schedule with peak-season rates April through October and reduced off-season rates November through March.
Spring brings wildflowers and cool nights, with blooms peaking in the Wildflower Reserve in late April and again in late summer. Fall foliage typically peaks in mid-October. Summer weekends are the busiest window, and Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends draw heavy crowds from the Pittsburgh area.

Dan’s camper was perfect for our weekend camping trip. It was clean, organized, and fit our family of 4 with plenty of room. Dan was very helpful at pick up and drop off getting everything hooked up and offloaded.

Camper was just as pictured and the delivery was amazing since we came from out of state! Communication was also amazing, we could’ve contacted them at anytime! We would definitely rent from them again if we are in the area!

How to book campsites near Midland
Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia each run separate reservation systems, so bookings must be made through the state that operates the park. For Raccoon Creek and the Sioux group area, reservations are made through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation website up to 11 months in advance, with the booking window closing at noon on the day of arrival.
For Beaver Creek State Park and its equestrian camp in Ohio, reservations are required and may be made up to six months ahead online through ReserveOhio or by calling (866) 644-6727. Tomlinson Run bookings go through the West Virginia State Parks system, with a two-night minimum on Friday and Saturday weekends or one night Sunday through Thursday, and a 14-night maximum stay. Book cabins and holiday weekends several months out.
What to expect at Midland campgrounds
Sites in this region are wooded and hilly, typical of the Ohio River valley's Appalachian foothills. Raccoon Creek's main loops offer a mix of electric, non-electric, tent-only, and pet-friendly sites, with paved parking in some loops, a sanitary dump station, an amphitheater, a playground, and modern restrooms with warm showers.
Tomlinson Run accommodates larger rigs and has a laundry facility, two bathhouses with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, and a convenience store. Most sites are 30-amp electric with a small number of 50-amp sites. Beaver Creek's equestrian camp is primitive, with vault latrines, potable water, high lines for tying horses, and no showers.
Route planning matters at Beaver Creek: a one-lane bridge on Echo Dell Road cannot accommodate vehicles with trailers or RVs, so large vehicles must approach the park office and equestrian camp from the south.
