Campgrounds and RV parks near Paris, PA

Raccoon Creek State Park is the main draw. Raccoon Lake is open to fishing and electric-motor boating, with rentals of canoes, rowboats, paddleboats, and kayaks available in season. The park's Wildflower Reserve protects more than 700 plant species across 4.5 miles of trails, and the wider park has more than 19 miles of hiking trails through oak-hickory forest and meadows. Tomlinson Run adds a swimming pool with a waterslide, miniature golf, disc golf, boat rentals on Tomlinson Run Lake, and hiking trails through forested hills and sandstone cliffs. Jefferson Lake State Park has 18 miles of trails serving hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, plus a small lake and public beach. Pittsburgh sits roughly 40 minutes east, putting museums, sports venues, and the incline within an easy day trip from any of the nearby campgrounds.

At Raccoon Creek State Park, loops E and F open in early April and close in mid-October, while loops A, B, C, and D run from late May through mid-September. The separate Sioux Rustic Campground remains open year-round with vault toilets and potable water, though access is not guaranteed during severe winter storms. Tomlinson Run's campground is open spring through fall, weather permitting, with camper cabins available April through October. Ohio's Jefferson Lake operates a seasonal, primarily non-electric campground on a shorter warm-weather window. Spring brings a strong wildflower bloom at Raccoon Creek's reserve, and lake swimming is comfortable from late May through mid-September. Summer is peak season and holiday weekends draw heavy crowds from the Pittsburgh area, with sites filling quickly for Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Fall foliage is one of the best times to visit for cool nights and lighter crowds. Winter reduces options to Raccoon Creek's rustic loop and modern cabins; snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing are possible when conditions allow.

Raccoon Creek's modern loops include electric, non-electric, tent-only, and pet-friendly sites, with amenities that include a sanitary dump station, modern restrooms with warm showers, a playground, and an amphitheater. Pets are welcome only in the C and F loops, so confirm the loop when booking. Tomlinson Run offers 48 traditional campsites and five camper cabins, with a contact station, convenience store, dump station, and two bathhouses featuring showers and laundry. Only a limited number of sites accommodate rigs from 30 to 40 feet, and just a handful can handle 40 to 50 feet, so larger rigs should check length limits. Jefferson Lake is more rustic, with 5 electric sites, 44 non-electric sites, and latrines and water fountains rather than full-hookup infrastructure. Cell service can be unpredictable in and around the state parks, so download maps before arrival.
