Campgrounds and RV parks near Clinton, SC

Clinton sits in South Carolina's Piedmont region, about halfway between Greenville and Columbia along Interstate 26. Most RV travelers use the town as a jumping-off point for Lake Greenwood, the Sumter National Forest, and the small lake communities around Cross Hill and Ninety Six. The 11,400-acre reservoir is the main draw of Lake Greenwood State Park, a waterfront retreat in the Piedmont. Camping options break into three groups. Lake Greenwood State Park's 125-site campground sits on the shores of the lake, with paved roads connecting all sites and bathhouses distributed throughout the property. Private lakefront parks near Cross Hill include Moon Landing RV Park and Marina and Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort. Closer to the interstate, Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA Journey in Kinards and Fireside RV Park serve travelers who want a quick highway pull-off. The mild Piedmont climate supports year-round camping at most of these parks, though summer weekends and holiday periods fill fastest around the lake.

Lake Greenwood State Park uses the South Carolina State Parks reservation system. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and requests less than one day before check-in must be made directly through the park. Camping has a two-night minimum. Between April 1 and August 31, campers can stay a maximum of 14 nights at Lake Greenwood, and after the 14th night they must vacate the park for 7 consecutive nights before returning. Private campgrounds book directly through their own websites or by phone. Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA Journey uses the standard KOA booking platform, while Moon Landing RV Park and Marina, Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort, and Fireside RV Park take reservations by phone and web. Lock in summer weekends and holiday stays several months out, and check cancellation windows before paying deposits.
