Campgrounds and RV parks near Ridge Spring, SC

Aiken State Park anchors the outdoor options. The park covers over 1,000 acres of river swamp, bottomland hardwood, and longleaf pine sandhills, with four artesian-fed ponds for paddling and fishing, a seasonal swimming area, a playground, and a three-mile Jungle Nature Trail. A 1.7-mile canoe and kayak trail runs down the South Fork of the Edisto River, and the park rents canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats seasonally. In town, Ridge Spring is known for antique shops, boutiques, and farm markets. The Ridge Peach Festival, held on the third Saturday of June in nearby Trenton, brings a parade, live music, local vendors, and peach-focused food, including its signature fresh-churned peach ice cream. The town also hosts the Ridge Spring Harvest Festival in the fall.

The region has a humid subtropical climate with hot, muggy summers and short, cool winters. Summer highs commonly reach the upper 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit with high humidity, and August is typically the wettest month. Afternoon thunderstorms are frequent from June through August, and tropical systems occasionally push inland from the Atlantic or Gulf, bringing heavy rain. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. March through May brings mild temperatures, blooming peach orchards, and moderate rainfall, while September through November tends to be drier and cooler, with the Ridge Spring Harvest Festival falling in this stretch. October is typically the driest month of the year. Winters are short and generally mild, with daytime highs often in the 50s Fahrenheit and freezing overnight lows possible. Snow is rare. Aiken State Park takes reservations year-round, though the campground fills quickly on spring and fall weekends and during festival dates.

Aiken State Park has 25 campsites in a single-loop layout, with sites 20 through 25 offering full hookups and the remainder providing water and 30/50-amp electric. Sites are packed sand with a fire ring and picnic table, and the park lists most sites as accommodating RVs up to about 35 feet. The narrow, winding access road requires careful navigation for larger rigs. A central bathhouse serves the loop, an RV dump station is on site, and cell service can be spotty across major carriers. The private RV parks in the area lean more toward straightforward hookup sites and pull-throughs rather than resort amenities. Expect quiet, rural surroundings, gravel or grass pads, and easy road access from US-1 and SC-23. Pets are allowed on leash at Aiken State Park but are not permitted in or around lodging facilities.
