Campgrounds and RV parks near Chesterfield, TN

Natchez Trace State Park anchors most outdoor plans. The park features hiking trails ranging from short jaunts to a 40-mile overnight trail, four fishing lakes, an onsite wrangler camp, and 250 miles of riding trails on the south end of the park in the Natchez Trace State Forest. Pin Oak Lake supports motor boating, a swim beach for campers, and lakeside picnicking, and Wrangler Horse Camp gives horse owners direct trail access. Mousetail Landing State Park sits along the Tennessee River, offering a peaceful riverside setting with forested hills and creeks, plus hiking, paddling, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground is close to the Parkers Crossroads Civil War battlefield, a short walking tour just off I-40.

West Tennessee has a long camping season. Spring and fall are the most comfortable, with mild days and productive fishing for crappie and bass. Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon highs regularly in the upper 80s and low 90s, and biting insects are noticeably worse at riverfront sites such as Spring Creek at Mousetail Landing. Winter camping is possible at Natchez Trace, where the campground is open year-round, though some campsites close after December 1. Mousetail Landing's main campground also stays open for winter reservations, though services scale back. Spring Creek's primitive loop generally operates in the warmer months, with a seasonal window that runs roughly April through October. At Natchez Trace, campers should check the park's current construction and closure notices before booking. Facility upgrades have periodically affected Cub Lake Campground 2, the Wrangler area, and the Pin Oak lodge and restaurant, so confirm status with the park before planning a horse-camp or lodge-based trip.

Expect a mix of full-hookup RV loops, primitive tent sites, and horse-friendly camping. Pin Oak has two bathhouses with 50-amp electric, sewer, and water hookups, sits on the shore of Pin Oak Lake, and can accommodate RVs up to 80 feet in length. Cell service in the Pin Oak area is very limited. Mousetail Landing's main campground has a modern bathhouse, laundromat, electricity and water hookups at 19 of the 25 campsites, and Wi-Fi at sites 1 through 13, with a dump station on site. Spring Creek at Mousetail Landing is a rustic riverside campground with waterfront sites, portable toilets, and no running water facilities. Sites sit close together, and bugs are heavy in warm months. Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground sits just off I-40 and is a common overnight stop for interstate travelers.
