Campgrounds near Eastview, Tennessee
Eastview sits in McNairy County in southwestern Tennessee, within easy reach of the Tennessee River, Pickwick Lake, and the Shiloh and Corinth battlefields. The area draws RV travelers looking to combine lake recreation with Civil War history, and campgrounds range from developed state and federal facilities to smaller private RV parks.
Battlefield Campground and Corinth RV Park sit close to the Shiloh National Military Park and Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, making them practical bases for touring the battlefields. Big Buck Camping Resort and Botel Campground offer additional private options within a short drive of Eastview, with hookups suited to larger rigs.
On the water, Pickwick Dam Campground places campers directly below the TVA dam on the Tennessee River, with easy access to boating, fishing, and Pickwick Landing State Park across the river. Together these options cover most trip styles, from history-focused weekends to longer lake stays.
Things to do near Eastview
History drives many trips here. Shiloh National Military Park preserves the site of the April 1862 battle and includes a 12.7-mile auto tour route with 22 stops, monuments, cannon placements, and preserved artifacts across roughly 5,000 acres. The Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, about a half hour south in Mississippi, extends that story to the railroad junction fought over after Shiloh.
Water recreation centers on Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee River. Boating, water skiing, swimming, and sport fishing for smallmouth bass and catfish are all popular. Pickwick Landing State Park adds an 18-hole golf course, a public swim beach, and scenic hiking loops, and the state park lodge and marina round out day-use options for families.

Peak season at Shiloh runs from spring through Labor Day, and campgrounds around Pickwick Lake fill quickly on summer weekends and holidays. Spring brings mild temperatures and blooming dogwoods, but it is also one of the wettest stretches of the year, so plan for muddy sites and afternoon thunderstorms.
Summer is prime time for lake use, with warm water for swimming and long fishing days. Humidity is high and thunderstorms are common, especially in the afternoons. Fall is often the most comfortable window for RV travel, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and easier last-minute availability after Labor Day.
Winter is the quiet season. Pickwick Dam Campground operates on a seasonal calendar and typically closes from mid-November through mid-March, while Tennessee State Parks campgrounds and many private parks stay open year-round. Confirm operating dates before booking a cold-weather trip.
Booking and reservations
Reservation systems vary by operator. Sites at Pickwick Landing State Park are booked through the Tennessee State Parks reservation portal on the Itinio platform, with a booking window of up to one year in advance, a non-refundable advance reservation fee per site, and a two-night minimum on most sites. Weekend and holiday stays sell out earliest, so book several months ahead for summer.
Pickwick Dam Campground is a TVA facility managed by Vista Recreation, with reservations handled through the operator's website. A two-night minimum applies to most sites, and cancellations must be communicated at least 48 hours before arrival to avoid fees. Battlefield Campground, Corinth RV Park, Big Buck Camping Resort, and Botel Campground each handle bookings directly, so call ahead to confirm rig length, hookups, and pet policies.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Pickwick Lake is gently rolling and wooded. Sites at Pickwick Landing State Park sit under a tree canopy with lake views through the foliage, and many pads slope enough that leveling blocks are useful. Bathhouses at the state park and at the rebuilt Pickwick Dam Campground are generally clean and well maintained.
Cell coverage is reliable near the dam and in Savannah but can weaken in wooded loops. Certified heat-treated firewood is required inside Tennessee State Parks; do not bring untreated wood from home. Small river towns like Savannah and Counce offer groceries, fuel, and BBQ within a short drive, so resupply is straightforward between park visits.
