Campgrounds and RV parks near Newbern, TN

Newbern sits in Dyer County in northwest Tennessee, within easy driving distance of Reelfoot Lake, one of the state's most distinctive fishing and birding destinations. RV travelers use the town as a practical base for exploring the flooded cypress forest, wildlife refuges, and small-town main streets of the region. Reelfoot Lake was formed by the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811 and 1812 and is often described as the only large naturally occurring lake in Tennessee. The park operates two campgrounds on opposite sides of the lake: the Airpark North Campground on the north end near Tiptonville, and the South Campground on Highway 21-22 on the south end. Closer to Newbern itself, private options include Union City RV Park, Coyote View RV Park and RV Repair, and Sportsmans Resort, giving RVers a mix of full-service private parks and state-run lakeside sites within roughly a half-hour to hour drive.

Reelfoot Lake State Park uses the Tennessee State Parks reservation system, with sites bookable online or by phone up to one year in advance. A non-refundable reservation fee per campsite applies at booking. Check-in is at 4:00 pm, check-out is at 12:00 noon, and the check-in station at the South Campground is located in the Camp Store. For the private parks around Newbern, including Union City RV Park, Coyote View RV Park and RV Repair, and Sportsmans Resort, contact each campground directly to confirm rig-length limits, hookup availability, and cancellation terms, since these operators do not use the state reservation portal.
