Campgrounds near Ripley, Tennessee
Ripley sits in Lauderdale County in West Tennessee, roughly an hour north of Memphis and a short drive from the Mississippi River bluffs. The area suits RV travelers looking for quiet, rural sites within reach of Civil War history, river fishing, and Delta farmland, without the crowding of larger tourist corridors.
Camping options range from small private RV parks to a full-service state park. Hidden Acres RV Park and Willow RV Park offer straightforward hookup sites in the countryside around Brownsville and Ripley, while Serendipity Brownsville's Venue, Resort, and RV Park adds an event-venue setting with yurts, cabins, and full-hookup RV sites. Century Casino and RV Park pairs sites with on-property entertainment across the Mississippi in Caruthersville, Missouri.
Fort Pillow State Park anchors the outdoor side of the region. It sits on the Chickasaw Bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, with a family campground that accommodates RVs and a separate primitive tent area, plus a backcountry site and group camping for larger parties.
Things to do around Ripley
Fort Pillow State Historic Park is the main draw. Visitors can walk the reconstructed fortifications, tour the interpretive center and museum, and hike the trail system, including the Blue Chickasaw Bluff Trail. The 15-acre Fort Pillow Lake is stocked with bass, bream, crappie, and catfish, with a public boat ramp for fishing boats and canoes and an electric-trolling-motor limit on the water.
The park has been designated a Wildlife Observation Area by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and birders regularly spot warblers, vireos, herons, egrets, hawks, and eagles. The neighboring Anderson-Tully Wildlife Management Area sits just north for additional wildlife viewing.
Beyond the park, Ripley is known for tomato farms and roadside produce stands in summer, and Memphis is close enough for a day trip to Beale Street, barbecue, and Graceland.

48° / 35°F 115 mmCool and wet; occasional ice storms and cold snaps.
West Tennessee has a humid subtropical climate with hot, muggy summers and cool winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel. March through May brings mild days and blooming hardwoods, along with the region's wettest months and the seasonal peak in Tennessee tornado activity, so travelers should monitor forecasts and know their campground's shelter plan.
Summer runs hot and humid, with daytime highs typically in the mid to upper 80s and heat index values well above that. Shaded sites at Fort Pillow State Park and full-hookup parks with 50-amp service for air conditioning are worth prioritizing. Afternoon thunderstorms are common.
Fall cools through October and November, with lower humidity, changing hardwood color along the bluffs, and generally lighter campground demand. Winter is cool rather than harsh, though occasional ice storms and cold snaps do occur; private RV parks in the area tend to stay open year-round, while state park facilities may run on reduced schedules.
How to book a site
Fort Pillow State Park uses the Tennessee State Parks reservation system at reserve.tnstateparks.com. The family campground has fifteen RV sites with electric and water hookups plus nine primitive sites, and there is a designated backcountry site on the Blue Chickasaw Bluff Trail and a group campsite. A non-refundable advanced reservation fee applies per campsite, reservations may be made up to one year in advance, and picnic pavilions can also be booked online up to a year ahead.
Private parks such as Hidden Acres RV Park, Willow RV Park, and Serendipity Brownsville's Venue, Resort, and RV Park generally book direct by phone or through their own websites, sometimes with listings on third-party platforms. Century Casino and RV Park handles bookings through the casino property.
For spring weekends and fall foliage, reserving several weeks ahead is recommended, especially for the limited electric and water sites at Fort Pillow.
What to expect on the ground
The north side of the Fort Pillow family campground has sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical and water hookups, and some pads can accommodate rigs up to 60 feet. The south side has nine primitive sites with a nearby central water source. The campground is trashcan-free, with a dump station, dumpster, recycling, and a gray and black water disposal spot at the entrance. Two accessible bathhouses serve campers.
Only certified heat-treated firewood or downed wood collected inside the park may be burned; bringing untreated wood into the park is discouraged. The park sells firewood on site.
Private parks in the area lean toward gravel pads with full hookups and Wi-Fi. Cell coverage is generally reliable near Ripley and Brownsville but can be spotty inside the wooded sections of Fort Pillow. Grocery and fuel stops are available in Ripley, Henning, and Covington.

Just use the Delivery filter on RVezy when searching. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $5 per mile round-trip from the host's location. Pro tip: ask for delivery to your campsite so you can spend your weekend relaxing, not driving.

Winter is mild (40s-50s) with occasional cold snaps. Pro tip: visit during the Lauderdale County Tomato Festival in mid-July for a quintessential small-town Tennessee experience, just book your rig early because locals fill the campgrounds.
weather.gov/meg/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Ripley?
You'll do great, first time renting an RV is super common in Ripley, and the area is one of the easiest places in Tennessee to learn. Highway 51 and the rural roads through Lauderdale County are wide, flat, and low-traffic, with none of the steep grades you would hit in East Tennessee. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering how to hook up power, dump the tanks, level the rig, and operate the slide-outs. If you'd rather skip driving altogether, choose a host who offers delivery and setup. Pro tip: start with a smaller travel trailer or Class C (under 25 feet) for your first trip, they handle similarly to a large pickup and park easily at Fort Pillow.
rvezy.com/blog/first-time-rv-renters-guideWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You are never stranded. Every motorhome rental in Ripley booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 51, a dead battery at Fort Pillow, or a generator hiccup at Reelfoot Lake is just one phone call away. The roadside team can dispatch tire service, jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockout help, and towing across West Tennessee. Your host is also a great first call for quick questions about appliances or systems. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Ripley, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and plate so you can share them quickly if needed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ripley RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

You can easily cross into Missouri (Reelfoot and Bootheel area), Arkansas (just over the Mississippi River bridge at Memphis), Mississippi, and Kentucky on a typical rental, all popular routes for guests booking RV rental in Tennessee. Travel into Canada may be allowed with advance host approval and updated insurance documentation, so message the host before booking if Canada is on your itinerary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend across the southern border. Pro tip: a 7-day loop through Memphis, Hot Springs Arkansas, and the Natchez Trace makes for an unforgettable regional trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for in West Tennessee?
Budgeting fuel for your Ripley RV trip is straightforward. Class B campervans average 18-22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8-12 mpg, Class A coaches 6-9 mpg, and a truck pulling a travel trailer typically gets 9-13 mpg. Tennessee gas prices generally run below the national average, and you'll find competitive fuel at the Love's and Pilot stations along I-40 near Brownsville and on Highway 51. For a typical 3-day, 300-mile loop from Ripley to Memphis and back, plan on $90-$180 in fuel depending on rig size. Pro tip: use the GasBuddy app to spot the best prices, and fill up in Ripley itself before heading to Fort Pillow, where there are no stations once you turn off Highway 87.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Ripley?
Earlier is always better, but Ripley campgrounds are more forgiving than national park hotspots. Tennessee State Parks (including Fort Pillow and Meeman-Shelby Forest) accept reservations well in advance through tnstateparks.com, and weekends in April, May, October, and any summer holiday do sell out. For midweek summer or any shoulder-season stay, 2-4 weeks out is usually enough. Chickasaw National Wildlife Refuge access and Corps of Engineers sites on the Mississippi book through recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Pro tip: if Fort Pillow is full, check for cancellations on Sunday and Monday mornings, sites open up constantly, and the bluff-view loop is worth the patience.
tnstateparks.com/about/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Ripley, TN?
Driving an RV around Ripley is genuinely easy, the terrain is gentle rolling farmland and bluffs (not mountains), and Highway 51 is a four-lane corridor connecting Ripley to Memphis. You'll want to watch for a few specific things: agricultural equipment on rural roads (especially during cotton and soybean harvest in fall), occasional deer at dawn and dusk along Highway 87 to Fort Pillow, and summer thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain quickly. Avoid driving large Class A rigs through downtown Ripley's older square if you can park at the edge instead. Pro tip: if a tornado warning hits while you're camping, head to a sturdy permanent shelter like a brick bathhouse at Fort Pillow or Meeman-Shelby, RVs are not safe in severe weather, so plan your shelter spot on arrival.

Most local campgrounds have free dump stations for registered guests. Pro tip: Ripley itself has a Walmart, grocery stores, and several gas stations with propane refill on Highway 51, top off water and propane in town before heading to Fort Pillow's quieter loops.

Pro tip: book delivery plus a full setup package for your first trip, you'll arrive at camp and the only thing left to do is relax.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ripley%2C%20TennesseeHow do payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Ripley?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Ripley, TN through RVezy, you pay the trip total (rental, fees, taxes, and chosen protection plan) directly through the platform with a credit or debit card, never in cash to the host. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup; the exact amount is shown on each listing and typically ranges from $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig. As long as you return the RV in the agreed condition with the tank levels noted on your contract, the deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: take time-stamped photos and a quick walk-around video at both pickup and drop-off, it's the easiest way to keep your deposit refund smooth.
