Campgrounds and RV parks near Scotts Hill, TN

Water is the main draw. Natchez Trace State Park offers hiking, paddling, fishing, boating, and horseback riding across four lakes and a state forest, with over 250 miles of public-use trails on the south end of the park. Pin Oak Lake is the park's motorized lake, and pull-through sites at Pin Oak accommodate larger RVs easily. At Mousetail Landing, the park sits on the Spring Creek embayment, a branch of the Tennessee River. Visitors can bring canoes or kayaks, launch a boat from the ramp near Spring Creek Campground, or use the swim beach in warmer months. Hikers can tackle the roughly 8-mile Eagle Point Loop, and equestrians heading to Natchez Trace can access the trail network from the Wrangler Camp when it is open. Sycamore Lake Campground adds easy fishing and small-boat paddling on a calm reservoir.

Spring and fall are the sweet spots for RV travel in this part of Tennessee. Summers are hot and humid, and water in park swim beaches warms quickly; the small swimming beach at Pin Oak can be muddy and warm during summer months. Winters are quieter but usable, with mild-to-cool days and occasional cold snaps. Seasonal closures matter for planning. Pin Oak Campground is open year-round, but some campsites close after December 1, and the campground is currently undergoing an upgrade with construction on site. Cub Lake Campground 2 and the Wrangler Campground at Natchez Trace are both closed for renovations, so equestrian travelers should confirm status before booking. The Lodge at Natchez Trace and its restaurant are undergoing a rebuild, with an anticipated reopening in spring 2028; the pool is unavailable during construction, and a food truck at the Camp Store serves hot food. At Mousetail Landing, a portion of the Eagle Point Loop has been affected by storm damage, so hikers should check with the visitor center before heading out. Sycamore Lake Campground typically operates from mid-March through mid-November.
