Camping near Bacliff, Texas
Bacliff sits on the western shore of Galveston Bay in north-central Galveston County. Bacliff is a census-designated place in north-central Galveston County, Texas, 16 miles (26 km) northwest of Galveston. The location makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want bay access without staying on Galveston Island itself, with quick drives to Kemah, League City, and NASA-area attractions.
Most of the RV inventory in the immediate area is privately operated. Gordy Road RV Park and Jackie's Place RV Resort sit inside Bacliff, while Jet's RV Resort, Bacliff is a short drive away. Green Caye RV Park and Marina Bay RV Resort round out nearby options for travelers wanting waterfront or marina-adjacent sites.
For those willing to drive south, Galveston Island State Park sits about an hour from Houston and provides coastal camping across 2,000 acres with sites divided between beachside and bayside areas, giving Bacliff-area renters a public-park option within a reasonable drive.
Things to do around Bacliff
Fishing, boating, and birdwatching drive most trip planning here. Galveston Bay produces year-round redfish and speckled trout, and public piers, marinas, and bait shops line the shoreline between Bacliff, San Leon, and Kemah. The Kemah Boardwalk is minutes away by car and offers rides, restaurants, and waterfront walking suited to families.
Day trips extend the itinerary. Space Center Houston sits north in Clear Lake, Galveston Island beaches lie south across the causeway, and Armand Bayou Nature Center provides paddling and wildlife trails on the mainland.
RV travelers based in Bacliff can reach Galveston Island State Park for beach access, surf fishing, and paddling. The park's four miles of trails wind through surf, beach, dunes, coastal prairie, freshwater ponds, wetlands, and bay shoreline, with paddling trails launching from the bayside and surf fishing popular on the Gulf.

Weather on Galveston Island can be humid and hot in the summer, with a mild and more temperate climate the rest of the year. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with warm days, cooler nights, and fewer thunderstorms than midsummer. Wildflowers and migrating birds arrive in spring, and fall brings cooler evenings once the first cold fronts push through.
Summer is hot and humid. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and demand at private RV parks along the bay peaks during school-vacation weeks. Winters are the quietest season for tourism; many days remain mild enough for outdoor activity, though occasional cold fronts drop temperatures quickly.
Hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in late summer and early fall. The park closes for tropical storms and hurricanes, so travelers should check the weather before confirming plans during hurricane season from June to November. Coastal parks in the region follow similar precautions, so keep flexible plans during that window.

We had a great time with our granddaughters. They really wanted an "RV" trip and this coach wowed them. Each had their own bunk. They loved that the coach had everything their home has. The coach drove smoothly once I got used to the handling and the owners were very easy to deal with and helpful.

Mike and Tammy were great. This was my first time renting and driving an RV. They went out of there way to make my experience as smooth as possible. I would definitely suggest Mike and Tammy and this RV to others!

How to book RV sites near Bacliff
Private parks in Bacliff, including Gordy Road RV Park, Jackie's Place RV Resort, Jet's RV Resort, Bacliff, Green Caye RV Park, and Marina Bay RV Resort, are booked directly with each property by phone or online form. Monthly and long-term stays are common in the area, so nightly sites can be limited during winter snowbird months and holiday weekends.
For the nearest state-park option, reservations for Galveston Island State Park can be made through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website or by calling their reservation line. Reservations can be made up to five months in advance. Book as soon as dates are known, especially for weekends during the peak season of March to October.
What to expect on the ground
Bacliff is a small bayside community with a working-waterfront feel rather than a resort-town polish. Expect flat terrain near sea level, open sky, steady bay breezes, and easy access to seafood restaurants, bait shops, and boat ramps. Mosquitos can be a nuisance year-round in the area, so plan accordingly and pack bug spray.
Roads into the private parks are paved and RV-accessible, and grocery, fuel, and propane are available in Bacliff, San Leon, and Kemah. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the bay shore.
Coastal sites can lack privacy and shade, and wind can be challenging near the beach, so awnings, sun shades, and secure tie-downs matter more than at inland parks. Storms can move in quickly off the Gulf; keep outdoor gear stowed when not in use.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Bacliff, TX?
RV rental in Bacliff is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Texas Gulf Coast, with most rigs priced between roughly $125 and $300 per night depending on size and season. Campervans and smaller travel trailers tend to sit at the lower end, while larger Class A and Class C motorhomes with bunk beds and slide-outs trend higher. To score a cheap RV rental in Bacliff, aim for weekday pickups, book outside spring break and peak summer, and consider trailers under 25 feet for the best value. Message a few hosts directly to compare bundled offers before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bacliff,%20TexasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Bacliff, Texas?
Good news: a regular Class C Texas driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Bacliff for any standard motorhome, campervan, or travel trailer on RVezy. Texas only requires a non-commercial Class A or B license for rigs with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of RVs on the platform fall well below that threshold. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older and complete a quick ID verification through RVezy during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Your home country driver's license, along with an International Driving Permit when required, will work for most rentals. Most first-time renters in Galveston County are surprised at how straightforward the process is.

If a tire blows on I-45 heading to Galveston or you need a tow near the Kemah Boardwalk, one phone call gets help dispatched. That built-in safety net is a big reason renters love booking their Texas Gulf Coast trips through RVezy.

If a host has to cancel, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit so you are not left without options, which is reassuring along the hurricane-prone Galveston Bay coast. weather.gov/hgx/What if I've never driven an RV before?
First time renting an RV? You're in great company, and Bacliff is an ideal launchpad. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the propane, water, electrical, slide-outs, and dump procedures so you leave confident. The local terrain helps too: roads around Bacliff and the Bay Area are flat, well-maintained, and free of mountain grades, so handling a Class C motorhome or travel trailer feels surprisingly natural. If you'd rather skip driving altogether, choose a host who delivers and sets up at Galveston Island State Park or Kemah RV Resort. Pro tip: ask your host for a quick test drive around the neighborhood before you leave their property, most are happy to ride along for the first 10 minutes.

You are covered around the clock. Your host is also a phone call away for RV-specific questions like generator quirks or awning operation. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before pulling out of the driveway, then enjoy your Galveston Bay adventure knowing help is always close.

From Bacliff you can legally take your RV rental into neighboring states like Louisiana (New Orleans is just 350 miles east), Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, with most hosts welcoming interstate travel. To avoid issues, do a thorough walk-around with your host at both pickup and drop-off, take date-stamped photos, and document any existing scratches or dings. Pro tip: keep all communication inside RVezy messaging so you have a clear record protecting both you and your host.
