Campgrounds and RV parks near Bastrop, TX

Inside Bastrop State Park, visitors can camp, picnic, swim, ride bikes, hike, fish, geocache, take in a nature program, and look for wildlife. The park has seven miles of trail through the growing forest, where hikers can look for the new generation of loblolly pines regrowing after past wildfires. The scenic Park Road 1C between Bastrop and Buescher state parks winds through recovering pine areas of the Lost Pines. Fishing is available at the park's small, half-acre Lake Mina, and no license is needed to fish from shore in a Texas state park. Bastrop State Park does not have a gate, and office hours are 8am to 4:30pm Sunday through Saturday. Late arrivals can view the posted reservations sheet on the kiosk outside park headquarters to find the site assigned to them. If campers do not check in by noon of the day after the scheduled arrival date, the rest of the reservation will be cancelled. The park sits directly off Loop 150, a short exit from Highway 71. Inside the state park, pull-through sites are in the Piney Hill camp area and back-in sites are in the Copperas Creek camp area; tents are allowed in Copperas Creek but not in Piney Hill. Sites vary from water-only to full hookup. Cell coverage is generally usable but patchy under dense pine cover. At private parks around Bastrop, expect paved or gravel pads, standard 30/50-amp service, and a mix of pull-through and back-in configurations.
