Campgrounds and RV parks near Beach City, TX

Trinity Bay is the centerpiece. Anglers target speckled trout, redfish, and flounder from kayaks, small boats, and the shoreline at Beach City Park. About 20 miles east, Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge, renamed from Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in March 2025, protects approximately 34,000 acres of coastal marsh and prairies with auto loops, boardwalks, and a visitor information station off FM 1985. The refuge is a strong family stop for alligator viewing, waterfowl, and one of the better birding circuits on the upper Texas coast. Day trips from a Beach City basecamp also reach the Kemah Boardwalk across Galveston Bay and the Bolivar Peninsula via the Port Bolivar ferry. Crystal Lake RV Resort offers an on-site pool, splash pad, and clubhouse for downtime between excursions.

The shoulder seasons are the sweet spot. March through May brings pleasant daytime temperatures, active spring migration through the Chenier Plain refuges, and lower humidity than the summer months. October and November are similarly comfortable and pair well with waterfowl arrival at Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge. Summer is hot and humid, with daily highs averaging in the low 90s Fahrenheit through July and August and frequent afternoon thunderstorms; mosquitoes are a year-round nuisance on the marsh and intensify after rain. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity from mid-August through September. Coastal parks, including Galveston Island State Park, close for tropical storms and hurricanes, and low-lying bay roads near Beach City can flood during onshore wind events. Winter is mild but variable. Daytime highs typically reach the 60s Fahrenheit, occasional cold fronts push lows near freezing, and the area fills with snowbirds heading for Gulf Coast state parks. Booking ahead for January and February stays is wise.

Expect a flat, coastal-prairie landscape: rice fields, cattle pasture, marsh, and bay shoreline rather than forest. Roads in and around Beach City are mostly two-lane farm-to-market routes; FM 2354 (Tri-City Beach Road) follows the bay. Big rigs should plan fueling and groceries in Baytown or Mont Belvieu, where I-10 services are concentrated. Private RV parks in this corridor lean toward long pull-throughs with full hookups and 30/50 amp service, gravel or paved pads, and basic amenities such as laundry, Wi-Fi, and a pool or clubhouse at the larger resorts. Cell coverage is generally strong. Bring insect repellent: mosquitoes and biting flies are persistent near the marsh and bay. Refuge gates close at sunset, and the Texas state park system enforces same-day cancellation penalties for late changes.
