Campgrounds and RV parks near Colmesneil, TX

Water recreation defines the region. Visitors can paddle the Neches and Angelina rivers, hike or bike park trails, swim, and fish B.A. Steinhagen Reservoir. Martin Dies Jr. State Park sits at the confluence of two rivers, creating diverse wetland habitats to explore by kayak or canoe. The state park also runs regular interpretive programming, including nature walks, paddling tours, star parties, and campfire programs, along with a nature center at the Hen House Ridge Unit. Cyclists have paved and unpaved options across both camping units. For supplies and day trips, Woodville sits nine miles south on US 69 and Jasper is about 15 miles east on US 190. Expect a rural, forested setting with narrow county roads leading to most campgrounds. Cell coverage is uneven under the pine canopy, so download maps and reservation confirmations before leaving Woodville or Jasper. Interior park roads at Walnut Ridge and Hen House Ridge are narrow and curve around mature trees, so larger rigs should confirm site length limits before booking. At Martin Dies Jr., pets are allowed throughout the park but not inside any park buildings, including cabins, shelters, restrooms, and offices. A day-use fee is charged per person aged 13 and older, in addition to any camping fee. Check the park page for active alerts before departure. Recent notices have covered bridge work in the Walnut Ridge Unit and restroom construction in specific Hen House Ridge loops, with alternate restroom facilities available in adjacent loops during the work.
