Campgrounds and RV parks near Palmer, TX

Palmer is a census-designated place in Cameron County, in the southern tip of Texas roughly 5 miles south of San Benito and about 18 miles northwest of downtown Brownsville. The area sits in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, a subtropical delta region known for warm winters, citrus groves, palms, and abundant birdlife. The Resaca del Rancho Viejo, a former channel of the Rio Grande, flows through the northern part of the community. RV travelers use Palmer as a base for the wider Valley: South Padre Island beaches lie about 45 minutes east, and Brownsville, Harlingen, and the Mexican border at Matamoros are all within easy driving distance. The nearest full-service RV parks cluster in and around San Benito and neighboring communities, including El Ranchito At Resaca Bend MH and RV Park, Fun N Sun RV Resort, Palmdale RV Resort, Anglers Nest RV Park, and East Gate Mobile Home and RV Park. Many of these parks cater primarily to long-stay Winter Texans, so short-term travelers should confirm nightly availability and any age restrictions before booking.

Most RV parks in the Palmer, San Benito, and Harlingen area are privately owned and book directly through the resort or through booking platforms. Fun N Sun RV Resort, for example, is an age-qualified resort with a minimum check-in age of 55; it is open year-round and takes reservations by phone or online, with nightly, monthly, and seasonal stays available. For the peak Winter Texan months of December through February, reserve as early as possible, ideally in summer or early fall, since many sites are held by returning seasonal guests. Long-stay reservations typically require a deposit and have stricter cancellation windows than nightly stays. For public lands such as Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, entrance passes are handled through Recreation.gov; the refuge itself does not offer overnight RV camping.
