Campgrounds and RV parks near Rancho Viejo, TX

Rancho Viejo sits in the Rio Grande Valley between Brownsville and Harlingen, roughly 30 minutes from South Padre Island and about 20 miles from the Gulf. The town is built around tropical resacas and a championship golf course, and the flat surrounding landscape makes it an easy base for RV travel in deep South Texas. RV options nearby lean heavily toward full-hookup resort parks that cater to the Winter Texan crowd. Palmdale RV Resort and River Bend Resort and Golf Club sit closest to the Rancho Viejo core, while Holiday Out RV Park, Honeydale Mobile Home and RV Park, and Winter Haven Resort fill out the mix with a range of long-stay and short-stay setups. Most Valley parks are 55-plus oriented and organized around clubhouses, pools, and activity calendars rather than tent sites or backcountry loops. Public-land camping in the immediate area is limited. The closest large public RV campground is Isla Blanca Park on South Padre Island, run by Cameron County, which functions as the region's main coastal option for travelers who want beach access alongside hookups.

For private parks such as Palmdale RV Resort, River Bend Resort and Golf Club, Holiday Out RV Park, Honeydale Mobile Home and RV Park, and Winter Haven Resort, reservations are made directly with each property by phone or through the park's website. Winter sites often need to be booked several months in advance, and monthly stays typically require deposits. For Cameron County's Isla Blanca Park on South Padre Island, reservations run through the county's online system, reachable from cameroncountytx.gov. Winter reservations at Isla Blanca are now handled on a first-come, first-served basis rather than through automatic renewals, and a portion of the roughly 600 sites is held back for shorter daily and weekly stays. Payment is required in full at booking, and the refund policy is limited, so confirm dates before paying.
