Campgrounds and RV parks near Santa Rosa, TX

Santa Rosa is a small town in northwestern Cameron County in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, about six miles north of La Feria at the intersection of FM 506 and State Highway 107. RV travelers use it as a low-traffic base for reaching South Padre Island, the Mexican border crossings, and the region's wildlife refuges without staying in a larger city. Most RV inventory near Santa Rosa sits in privately owned, full-hookup parks a short drive south along the Business 83 and Expressway 83 corridor. The Fig Tree RV Resort and The Yellow Rose Mobile Home and RV Park are among the closest options, with Kenwood RV Resort and VIP - La Feria RV Park nearby toward La Feria. Breezewood Cove RV Park rounds out the local list. Many of these parks lean toward the Winter Texan market, meaning long-stay snowbird sites, 55+ sections, and shared amenities such as recreation halls and shuffleboard courts are common. Short-term nightly and weekly sites are available but can be limited from January through March.

For the winter peak, book privately owned parks such as The Fig Tree RV Resort, Kenwood RV Resort, or VIP - La Feria RV Park several months out through the operator directly, and expect deposits and minimum stays for prime January and February dates. Many Valley parks release monthly and seasonal blocks first, so nightly availability tightens quickly once returning snowbirds confirm. Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park no longer offers RV camping, only primitive walk-in tent sites, and reservations run through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department system up to five months in advance at 8 a.m. Central. Day passes for the state park become available 30 days ahead and can sell out for peak birding weekends. Outside December through March, most local RV parks can be booked a few weeks out, and weekday arrivals typically offer the widest choice of pull-through and big-rig sites.
