Campgrounds and RV parks near Tiki Island, TX

Fishing and paddling define the local waters. Tiki Tom's RV Park has two 250-foot lighted piers into West Bay and a fish-cleaning area, and the surrounding shoreline and Jones Lake are popular with kayak anglers targeting redfish, flounder, and speckled trout. Across the causeway, Galveston Island State Park protects roughly 2,000 acres of dunes, beach, wetlands, and bay shoreline with trails, a kayak launch, and ranger-led programs including paddling tours and beach walks. Beach access is easy from Dellanera RV Park, which fronts about 1,000 feet of Gulf shoreline. In town, families use the Tiki Island base for Moody Gardens, the Historic Pleasure Pier, Schlitterbahn Waterpark, and the Strand historic district.

The Galveston-area busy season runs March through October, with the state park often reaching capacity on weekends and school holidays. Spring brings mild temperatures, active fishing, and school-break crowds around Easter and spring break, so reservations should be locked in early for these windows. Summer is hot and humid, with Gulf water warm enough for swimming and long daylight for beach days. Afternoon thunderstorms are common. This is also Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June through November on the Gulf Coast. Galveston Island State Park closes for tropical storms and hurricanes, and coastal RV parks generally follow evacuation orders. Travelers should build flexibility into summer and early-fall bookings and monitor National Hurricane Center advisories. Fall shoulder season, particularly mid-October into November, offers cooler days, lower humidity, and thinner crowds once hurricane risk fades. Winter is mild by North American standards, occasionally dropping near freezing overnight, and draws long-term snowbird stays at parks like Stella Mare RV Resort and Tiki Tom's RV Park.

Expect coastal conditions: steady onshore breezes, salt air, and humidity most of the year. Sites on or near the Gulf can see sustained breezes that affect awnings and leave salt residue on rigs, so travelers should plan to secure loose gear and rinse equipment. Hookups are generally straightforward. Full 30/50-amp service, water, and sewer are standard at Tiki Tom's RV Park, Stella Mare RV Resort, and Dellanera RV Park. Dellanera has 65 full-hookup sites along the beach with concrete pads, picnic tables, and BBQ pits, but limited resort amenities. Mosquitos can be a nuisance year-round, so bug spray is worth packing. Cell coverage is generally solid, though on-site Wi-Fi strength varies. Pets are welcome at most area parks with standard leash rules.
