Camping near Bay View, Washington
Bay View sits on the eastern shore of Padilla Bay in Skagit County, roughly halfway between Mount Vernon and Anacortes. The area is flat, agricultural, and coastal, with the San Juan Islands visible across the water and the Cascades rising to the east. It is a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Skagit Valley, the ferry terminals at Anacortes, and the state parks strung along the north Puget Sound.
Bay View State Park anchors the local campground network with saltwater shoreline on Padilla Bay and views toward the San Juan Islands on clear days. RV travelers looking for full hookups and resort amenities typically choose properties inland toward La Conner and Burlington, including La Conner RV and Camping Resort, Skagit Valley RV Park, and Pioneer Trails RV Resort. Swinomish Northern Lights Casino and RV Park sits nearby on the Swinomish Reservation and pairs hookups with casino access.
Most sites are within a short drive of I-5, making arrival and grocery runs straightforward.
Things to do around Bay View
The Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve sits about a half mile from Bay View State Park and covers roughly 11,000 acres of tidal habitat. The reserve draws students, scientists, and visitors for research and education, with habitat that includes eelgrass beds, intertidal bays, freshwater sloughs, and salt marsh, and wildlife that ranges from salmon and crabs to eagles, herons, and ducks. The Breazeale Interpretive Center has aquarium exhibits and hands-on activities aimed at kids.
On the water, Padilla Bay supports kayaking, crabbing, fishing, and beachcombing at low tide. La Conner, a short drive south, offers a walkable waterfront on the Swinomish Channel with galleries, restaurants, and the Museum of Northwest Art. Deception Pass State Park and Larrabee State Park are both roughly fifteen miles from Bay View for day trips. Cyclists use the flat farm roads of the Skagit Valley for easy rides between towns and tulip fields.

Spring is the marquee season. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival runs April 1 through 30 across Skagit County, drawing visitors to working tulip and daffodil farms spread between Mount Vernon and La Conner. Peak bloom is weather dependent and typically lands in the second or third week of April, though a warm late winter can push it earlier and a cold snap can delay it. Book RV sites months in advance for April weekends.
Summer is dry and mild, and it is the most reliable window for boating, beach days, and clear views of the San Juans and Olympics. It is also the busiest season for state park campsites, so reserve early. Fall shoulder weeks in September and early October are quieter, with warm days and cool nights.
Winter is wet and cool but functional for RVers. Bay View State Park takes reservations year-round, but water at individual campsites is shut off through the coldest months, with a winter water supply available near the restrooms. Campsites 39 to 77 close between November 1 and May 1, while the other spaces stay open year-round.

Ryan was great. Super accommodating. Greatly appreciate him making the delivery.
Steve D. - Jan 2026
Ryan's RV was perfect for our weekend. We needed overflow space for family gathering for Thanksgiving & Ryan's RV was great! It's very spacious. Lots of space to spread out. When renting, be mindful of having enough space to open both popouts. It gives the RV a very open feel, but you cannot use the RV without opening the popouts. The full bedroom in the back with THREE beds is so great for families with kids -- lots of space for their bags & things. Lastly, definitely be mindful of closing the closet door completely when packing up the RV, as this can cause damage when opening the popouts. All in all, an excellent stay! Ryan was very responsive & super easy to deal with.

We rented Becca's RV to have it delivered and set up in our driveway. She was very responsive to my communication. Her husband Matt was very skilled at setting up the camper on the incline in our driveway. We were pleased about working on the rental with them.

Becca was very quick to reply to any messages. Trailer was ready to go when we arrived. The whole process was easy going and a great experience. Our family had a blast over July 4th weekend. Highly recommend this owner.

How to book a campground near Bay View
Bay View State Park is reserved through the Washington State Parks system. Reservations can be made online at parks.wa.gov or by calling 888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688), and the booking window opens six months in advance. A Discover Pass is required for day-use vehicle access to Washington state parks, though it is not needed when paying for an overnight site. All campsites can be reserved, and the park has 46 standard sites, 29 partial-hookup sites, and 6 cabins.
Private parks such as La Conner RV and Camping Resort, Skagit Valley RV Park, Pioneer Trails RV Resort, and Swinomish Northern Lights Casino and RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines. For April tulip weekends and summer holiday weekends, book several months out. Cancellation windows and pet policies vary by property, so confirm at the time of booking.
What to expect on site
Bay View State Park has partial-hookup sites with water and electric, no sewer at the site, and a maximum site length of 50 feet. The campground has full restrooms and hot showers, plus a dump station near the entrance. Sites 1 to 9 are utility sites with the best views of Padilla Bay and do not accept tents, while sites 10 to 30 are hookup sites facing a grassy playfield. All sites are back-in.
Private parks in the surrounding valley typically offer full hookups, longer pull-through sites, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Sites are close together and layouts lean toward open lot rather than wooded. Expect wet ground and standing water at shoulder-season stays, and pack layers year-round. Cell service is generally reliable across the Bay View area.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Bay View, WA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Bay View, WA?
RV rental in Bay View is more affordable than many travelers expect. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $400. Because RVezy is a peer-to-peer marketplace, hosts set their own nightly rates, so you can filter by budget and find a cheap RV rental in Bay View that fits your trip. Booking midweek in May or September, instead of peak July and August weekends when Padilla Bay campgrounds fill up, can save you 20 to 30 percent. Pro tip: bundle delivery to Bay View State Park to skip towing on your first trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bay%20View%2C%20WashingtonDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Bay View, WA?
Good news: your regular Washington driver's license (or any valid US or Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in Bay View. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or RV endorsement is required in Washington State for personal motorhomes or trailers, even the big Class A rigs. You'll need to be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before flying in, usually under $20. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork really is.
dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permits/get-license/license-classes-and-endorsementsWhat protection and roadside assistance comes with my Bay View RV rental?
Every RVezy booking in Bay View includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from the moment you leave the host's driveway. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), and the plan helps cover most accidental physical damage to the RV during your trip. If you get a flat on Highway 20 toward Anacortes or need a tow near Deception Pass, one call dispatches help any time of day or night. It is not standard auto insurance, but it provides real financial peace of mind so you can focus on the San Juan Islands views instead of worst-case scenarios.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Bay View RV trip?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy, and every reservation includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates with confidence. If your plans change due to weather, illness, or an event like a North Cascades wildfire or a Skagit Valley storm, contact RVezy support and they will walk you through your options. Because Bay View State Park and nearby campgrounds book up months ahead for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in April, reserving your RV early and adjusting later if needed is the smart move. Full cancellation policy details are available in the RVezy Help Center.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Bay View?
Absolutely, and Bay View is a fantastic dog destination. Many hosts on RVezy offer pet-friendly RV rental in Bay View, so just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see motorhomes and travel trailers that welcome four-legged guests. Once you arrive, leashed dogs are allowed at Bay View State Park campsites and on the 2.25-mile Padilla Bay Shore Trail just south of the park, a flat, scenic walk perfect for sniff-stops. Deception Pass State Park, about 15 miles west, also welcomes leashed dogs on most trails. Pro tip: pack a towel, low tide at Padilla Bay can mean muddy paws on the flats.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/bay-view-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Bay View, WA?
Yes, RV delivery in Bay View is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts in Skagit County will drive the rig directly to Bay View State Park, Burlington / Anacortes KOA, or your private property, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just filter for Delivery on the listing page and message the host with your campground site number. Delivery fees usually depend on distance from Mount Vernon or Burlington. It turns a campervan rental in Bay View into a true plug-and-play vacation.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bay%20View%2C%20WashingtonHow do mileage policies work, and how far can I drive from Bay View?
Most motorhome rental Bay View listings include a set number of free miles per night (commonly 100 to 150), with a small per-mile fee beyond that, and some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for a longer Pacific Northwest loop. From Bay View you're well-positioned for short hops or big adventures: Deception Pass State Park is 15 miles, Bellingham is 30 miles, Mount Baker is about 75 miles, Seattle is 70 miles south, and the North Cascades National Park entrance is roughly 60 miles east on Highway 20. Each listing shows its mileage policy clearly, so you can pick what fits your route.
nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhat are the best campgrounds near Bay View, WA for an RV?
You are spoiled for choice near Bay View. Bay View State Park is the headline option, with partial-hookup sites (water and electric) right on Padilla Bay, plus an on-site dump station and hot showers. Just down the road, Burlington / Anacortes KOA Holiday offers full hookups and family amenities. Riverbend RV Park near Mount Vernon sits off I-5 with full hookups and easy town access. La Conner Marina RV Park gives you 30/50-amp full hookups in a walkable historic village, and Deception Pass State Park has hookup sites about 15 miles west. Reserve Bay View State Park up to nine months ahead for Tulip Festival weekends in April.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/bay-view-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in Bay View, WA?
Bay View shines year-round, but summer (late June through early September) is the sweet spot, with daytime highs of 70 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, long daylight, and the driest weather of the year. April is magic if you want RV camping Bay View paired with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, when fields of red, yellow, and pink bloom just 10 minutes inland at Roozengaarde and Tulip Town. Fall brings bald eagle viewing along the Skagit River starting in late November. Winters are mild (lows around 35 to 40 degrees) but wet, so pack a rain jacket. Pro tip: book April dates by January to beat tulip-season demand.
weather.gov/sew/I have never driven an RV before. How does the pickup and orientation work?
First time renting an RV? You are in great hands. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering how to start the generator, dump tanks, hook up at the campsite, extend the awning, and operate the propane and water systems. They will answer every question, no matter how basic, and many provide a printed cheat sheet you can keep in the glove box. If something comes up mid-trip, you can message your host directly through the RVezy app. Bay View itself is a forgiving starter destination: flat back-roads, short drives to Bay View State Park, and easy on and off access from I-5 exit 230.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002448793-RentersWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my Bay View trip?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Whether you are parked at Bay View State Park, climbing Highway 20 toward Newhalem, or pulled over on Chuckanut Drive (WA-11), one phone call dispatches help. Cell service is solid throughout the Skagit Valley flats, though it can dip in the North Cascades, so screenshot the support number before heading into the mountains. Your host is also a resource: a quick message through the RVezy app often points you to the closest repair shop in Mount Vernon or Burlington.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Bay View RV rental into Canada or across state lines?
Cross-border road trips are part of what makes a Bay View RV trip special, since you are just about 50 miles from the Peace Arch crossing into British Columbia. Many hosts allow travel into Canada, but you must confirm with the host before booking, verify that insurance coverage extends across the border, and carry your passport along with the host's written permission letter. US interstate travel is generally allowed and popular RV road trip from Bay View routes include the Olympic Peninsula loop, the Oregon Coast on Highway 101, and east toward Glacier National Park. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, and big Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually a 25 to 40 percent hit on its normal MPG. Washington gas prices typically run higher than the national average; expect around $4.30 to $4.80 per gallon in Mount Vernon and Burlington, the two closest fill-up towns to Bay View. Top off in Burlington (Costco or Fred Meyer) before heading into the North Cascades, where prices jump and stations thin out past Marblemount.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bay View?
For Bay View State Park, reserve as early as possible. Washington State Parks opens reservations up to nine months ahead through its online reservation system, and prime summer weekends plus Tulip Festival dates in early to mid-April sell out within hours of release. Private parks like Burlington / Anacortes KOA and La Conner Marina RV Park usually have more flexibility but still fill up two to three months out for July and August. A Discover Pass is required for day-use parking at WA state parks ($30 annual or $11.50 daily), but it is not required if you are a registered overnight camper. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder nine months before your trip start date.
parks.wa.gov/passes/discover-passWhat are driving conditions like in and around Bay View, WA?
Driving around Bay View is genuinely easy, even for first-timers in a big rig. The Skagit Valley is flat farmland with wide, straight roads and light traffic outside of Tulip Festival weekends. I-5 is the main artery (exit 230 for Highway 20 west to Bay View), and surface roads like Bay View-Edison Road and Josh Wilson Road are RV-friendly. Watch for two things: narrow shoulders on rural farm roads (give cyclists wide berth in April), and fog that can roll off Padilla Bay on fall mornings. If you head east on Highway 20 to North Cascades, expect mountain grades, hairpin turns past Newhalem, and seasonal closures of Washington Pass from late November through April.
wsdot.com/travel/real-time/passes/north-cascades-highwayWhat amenities can I expect at Bay View area campgrounds?
Bay View State Park offers RV utility sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups (no sewer at the site), with a dump station and potable water fill at the campground, plus hot showers and flush restrooms. Burlington / Anacortes KOA and La Conner Marina RV Park provide full hookups including sewer, 30/50-amp power, and Wi-Fi. Most private parks also have laundry, propane fill, and small camp stores. Cell signal is strong on the Skagit Valley floor (Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile all work well around Bay View), so streaming and remote work are usually no problem. Pack a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a basic sewer kit just in case.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/bay-view-state-parkWhat features and equipment come standard in RVezy rentals near Bay View?
Expect a real home-on-wheels. Most RVs listed near Bay View come with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), an enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on floorplan, a roof-mounted air conditioner, a propane furnace for chilly Padilla Bay mornings, and seatbelts at every designated travel seat. Many include a generator, awning, outdoor speakers, TV, and some offer Wi-Fi hotspots. Class B campervans are perfect for solo travelers or couples on a Chuckanut Drive day trip, while a Class C or travel trailer suits a family RV trip Bay View style with room to spread out. Each listing shows exact amenities with photos.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bay%20View%2C%20WashingtonWhat add-ons and pickup options can I choose when I rent an RV in Bay View?
When you rent an RV in Bay View, hosts often offer practical add-ons like camp chairs, bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and pre-filled propane tanks. These usually run $10 to $50 each and save you a Burlington store run on day one. Pickup is flexible: meet the host near Mount Vernon, Burlington, or Anacortes, or pay for delivery directly to Bay View State Park or your private site. Mileage policies and generator-hour caps are shown on each listing before you book, so there are no surprises. Message the host with any custom request before confirming your reservation.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bay%20View%2C%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card at booking, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup, not actually charged, and is released after your trip assuming no damage or extra cleaning is needed. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkaround photo and video with your host at both pickup and drop-off, return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks at the Bay View State Park dump station before heading home.
