Campgrounds and RV parks near Big Lake, WA

Big Lake sits in Skagit County just southeast of Mount Vernon, off State Route 9 in northwest Washington. The lake anchors a small residential community with public water access managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and it works as a practical base for exploring Skagit Valley, the North Cascades, and the ferry terminal at Anacortes. Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and North Cascades National Park are both within driving distance, and the immediate area offers water activities on Big Lake, short hikes at Little Mountain, and swimming at nearby Clear Lake. RV travelers have several options within a short drive. Mount Vernon RV Park and Skagit Valley RV Park sit closest to town for full-hookup stays, while Burlington / Anacortes KOA Holiday is a larger family-oriented resort a short drive north. Skagit Speedway hosts sprint-car racing seasonally and is a familiar landmark in the valley. For riders and off-road users, Walker Valley ORV is the closest public land, a working state forest managed by Washington DNR with dedicated motorized trails. Camping options in the wider region range from valley RV parks to forested and mountain sites in the Cascades.

Private RV parks in the Mount Vernon and Burlington corridor typically take reservations directly through their websites or by phone, with the busiest weekends booking out weeks in advance. Burlington / Anacortes KOA Holiday uses the KOA reservation system and applies stricter cancellation terms during peak season, so check its site before booking. It is a security-gated property, and after-hours arrivals should be arranged in advance. For Walker Valley ORV, there is no campground reservation system. A Washington State Discover Pass is required, and primitive camping is permitted at the staging area, though large trailers are not recommended since space is limited. State parks in the wider region use the Washington State Parks portal at washington.goingtocamp.com, bookable up to nine months in advance of arrival.
