Campgrounds and RV parks near Ferndale, WA

Ferndale sits in Whatcom County in the far northwest corner of Washington, roughly 20 miles south of the Canadian border and a short drive from Bellingham Bay. The town is a practical base for RV travelers heading to the San Juan Islands ferries at Anacortes, Mount Baker, or across the border to Vancouver, BC. Interstate 5 runs right through town, making arrival and resupply straightforward. Most RV parks in the area are private, full-hookup properties on level ground with pull-through options. The Cedars RV Resort sits just off I-5 in Ferndale itself, while Bellingham RV Park and Hidden Village RV Park and Campground are a short drive south toward Bellingham. Lighthouse By The Bay RV Resort and Beachside RV Park put travelers closer to the shoreline at Birch Bay and Blaine. Nearby Birch Bay State Park sits in a blue cove between Bellingham and Blaine and provides the closest public-land camping option, with a mix of standard and utility sites in a forested setting close to the beach.

For state parks, reservations go through the Washington State Parks system. Campsites are reservable up to nine months in advance for arrival dates from May 15 to September 15, and campers can also take advantage of vacancies or cancellations until 2 p.m. the day of their arrival by booking online or over the phone. First come, first served camping is still available for unreserved sites after 2:30 p.m. A Discover Pass is required for day-use vehicle access. Private RV parks such as The Cedars RV Resort, Bellingham RV Park, Hidden Village RV Park and Campground, Lighthouse By The Bay RV Resort, and Beachside RV Park take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For summer weekends and holidays, book two to three months out; weekdays outside peak often have same-week availability.
