Campgrounds and RV parks near Kendall, WA

Kendall is a small community in northern Whatcom County, Washington, sitting along the Mount Baker Highway (SR 542) about 25 minutes east of Bellingham and roughly 15 minutes south of the Canadian border at Sumas. The location makes it a practical RV base for two very different camping zones: the lakes and family-oriented sites of British Columbia's Fraser Valley to the north, and the forested foothills leading up to Mt. Baker to the east. North of the border, Cultus Lake Provincial Park anchors the regional camping scene. The park sits 11 km southwest of Chilliwack, BC, and contains four frontcountry campgrounds totaling roughly 298 sites around a warm freshwater lake. Closer to Mt. Baker itself, Mt Baker RV Park in Maple Falls offers full-hookup sites on the Washington side, useful for travelers who want to stay stateside or avoid border crossings. Expect a mix of provincial-park style sites without hookups and private RV parks with full services. Plan border timing carefully if crossing into BC, and confirm passport and pet documentation before travel.

Cultus Lake Provincial Park sites are reserved through the BC Parks reservation system at camping.bcparks.ca, with a booking window of up to four months in advance. Phone reservations are available through 1-800-689-9025 for a small surcharge. In April and early May, sites at Cultus Lake operate first-come, first-served before the reservation season begins. Mt Baker RV Park accepts direct reservations through its website and handles full-hookup RV sites, tent spots, and longer-term seasonal stays. Cultus Lake RV Resort is part of the Thousand Trails network, with membership-based and standard nightly bookings handled through the Thousand Trails reservation system. For summer weekends and holiday periods, book the day reservations open four months out. Cancellations are common, so check back regularly if first-choice dates appear full.
