Kenmore camping overview
Kenmore sits at the north end of Lake Washington in King County, about 14 miles northeast of downtown Seattle and a short drive from Bothell, Kirkland, and Woodinville. The area has limited overnight camping within city limits, so most RV travelers base themselves at private parks in the surrounding suburbs and use the I-405 and SR 522 corridors to reach trailheads, lakes, and ferry terminals.
Closest private options include Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell, just off I-405, which offers full-hookup sites set around a wooded pond, and Maple Grove RV Resort and Lakeside RV Park in the broader north-Seattle area. South of Lake Washington, Trailer Inns RV Park in Bellevue provides a full-service base near I-90, and Vasa Park Resort sits on the west shore of Lake Sammamish.
Public campgrounds inside King County itself are sparse for RVs, so travelers willing to drive 60 to 90 minutes can reach Washington State Parks on Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula, and the Cascade foothills for a wider mix of waterfront and forested sites.
Things to do near Kenmore
Saint Edward State Park, on the Lake Washington shoreline straddling Kenmore and Kirkland, has more than nine miles of forested trails, historic Romanesque buildings from a former Catholic seminary, and undeveloped lakefront for wading and paddling. The park is day-use only, with no camping on site. Log Boom Park sits at the mouth of the Sammamish River with a pier for fishing and birdwatching, and the Burke-Gilman Trail runs through town for biking or walking.
Day trips fan out in every direction: Woodinville wine country to the east, the Boeing Future of Flight in Mukilteo to the north, the Ballard Locks and Pike Place Market in Seattle to the south, and the foothills around Snoqualmie Falls and North Bend to the southeast. Mount Rainier National Park and the Olympic Peninsula are both within reach for longer overnight loops.

Kenmore seasons and what to plan around
- spring
March - May
59° / 44°F 78 mmCool and showery; state-park bookings open quickly
- summer
June - August
74° / 55°F 26 mmDry and warm; peak demand, book well ahead
- fall
September - November
61° / 46°F 100 mmRain returns by October; quieter campgrounds
- winter
December - February
48° / 37°F 129 mmWettest season; mild, dark, and frequently rainy
Summer, roughly late June through early September, is the dry season and the busiest stretch for camping. Daytime highs typically sit in the 70s with low humidity, and most regional state park campsites book out for weekends and holidays well in advance.
Spring and fall are shoulder seasons with cooler temperatures, more variable rain, and easier site availability. Wildflowers and migrating waterfowl peak in spring; fall brings color along the Sammamish River corridor and quieter trails. Wildfire smoke from inland Washington can occasionally drift into the Puget Sound lowlands in late summer and early fall, so check air quality before extended outdoor plans.
Winter is wet and mild, with the wettest months falling in November, December, and January. Lowland snow is uncommon but possible, and many private RV parks in the Kenmore-Bothell area stay open year-round with full hookups. Mountain passes east of the city require traction devices or chains during storms, so winter RV travel toward the Cascades needs extra planning.

How to book a Kenmore campsite
Private parks near Kenmore, including Lake Pleasant RV Park, Maple Grove RV Resort, Lakeside RV Park, Trailer Inns RV Park, and Vasa Park Resort, take direct reservations by phone or through their websites. Summer weekends fill early, especially for big-rig and full-hookup sites, so book several weeks ahead from May through September.
Washington State Parks campsites are reserved through washington.goingtocamp.com or by calling 888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688). The booking window opens up to nine months ahead of the arrival date, and popular waterfront and full-hookup sites can sell out within minutes for peak summer dates. Federal campgrounds in the national forests and at Mount Rainier and Olympic National Parks use Recreation.gov, which has its own rolling windows by campground.
What to expect on the ground near Kenmore
RV parks closest to Kenmore are suburban in character. Sites tend to be paved or graveled, fairly level, and close together, with full hookups, laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi common at the larger properties. Cell coverage is generally strong across the metro area but can drop quickly in the Cascade foothills.
Washington State Parks in the region usually offer a mix of standard, partial, and full-hookup sites, and many require a two-night minimum on weekends during peak summer. Sewer hookups at state and county parks are less common than at private resorts, so plan dump-station stops accordingly.
Fire restrictions are common in late summer, even in lowland parks, so check current burn rules before relying on a campfire. Bring layers regardless of season: marine air keeps evenings cool even on warm days.

Plans change, and RVezy makes that easy. Refund amounts after that depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. The full details are shown in your RVezy account at checkout, so you'll always know where you stand. Yes, Kenmore is a great spot for dog owners, and many local hosts list pet-friendly RV rentals. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see rigs that welcome your four-legged co-pilot. Once you arrive, you've got fantastic options: Log Boom Park on Lake Washington has open green space for leashed dogs, and the Sammamish River Trail (which starts in Kenmore) is a paved path perfect for morning walks. Many nearby campgrounds, including Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell, also welcome pets. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038103754-Traveling-with-petsCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Kenmore?
Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Many Kenmore-area hosts offer RV delivery in Kenmore, meaning they'll drive the rig to your driveway, your campground site, or a launch point along your route, then set it up and walk you through every system. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who provide this service. Delivery is especially popular for guests heading to spots like Lake Pleasant RV Park in nearby Bothell or for families staying close to home for a backyard staycation. Fees vary by distance, but it removes the stress of driving a big rig on Bothell Way or through SR 522 traffic. Pro tip: ask for delivery plus setup if it's your first RV camping trip in Kenmore.
kenmorewa.gov/our-city/about-kenmoreHow far can I travel from Kenmore, WA on an RV road trip?

From here you can reach Mount Rainier National Park in about 2.5 hours (95 miles), Olympic National Park's Hurricane Ridge in roughly 3 hours (including a ferry), North Cascades National Park in 2 hours (110 miles), and Leavenworth's Bavarian village in 2.5 hours (135 miles). Want to go bigger? Vancouver, BC is just 2.5 hours north, and Portland is 3 hours south. Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage if you're chasing Cascades-to-coast adventure.
nps.gov/mora/index.htmWhat are the best campgrounds near Kenmore, WA?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Kenmore include Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell (full hookups, just minutes away, year-round), Tolt MacDonald Park in Carnation (riverside sites about 20 miles east), Saltwater State Park in Des Moines (Puget Sound beach access, about 35 miles south), Kanaskat-Palmer State Park (forested sites along the Green River, about an hour southeast), and Fay Bainbridge Park on Bainbridge Island (waterfront camping via ferry). Each one offers a different flavor of Washington, from urban-convenient to deep-woods quiet. Pro tip: Lake Pleasant is the easiest first-night stop after RV pickup, but book ahead, Seattle-area sites fill fast on summer weekends.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parksWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Kenmore, WA?
July through September is the sweet spot for RV camping in Kenmore, with sunny days in the 70s-low 80s F, almost no rain, and long evenings ideal for lakefront grilling. Late June and early October are excellent shoulder seasons with cheaper rates and fewer crowds. Spring (April-May) brings blooming trails but expect frequent showers, classic Pacific Northwest weather. Winters are mild (40s F) and wet, but very doable if you want quiet campgrounds and a snowy day trip to the Cascades. Pro tip: aim for the second week of July through Labor Day for the most reliable Washington sunshine, and book your Kenmore RV rental at least 6-8 weeks ahead for peak summer dates.
weather.gov/sew/I've never rented an RV before. Is Kenmore a good place to start?
Kenmore is one of the friendliest places for a first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the kitchen, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and the dashboard, so you won't drive off guessing. Kenmore's roads are also forgiving for beginners: SR 522 is a wide arterial, and within 20 minutes you can be on I-405 or I-5 heading toward easy destinations like Lake Pleasant RV Park or Deception Pass. Message your host with questions any time before or during your trip. Pro tip: ask for a travel trailer or Class C for your first booking, they're easier to drive than a 35-foot Class A, and most family RV trip Kenmore bookings start exactly this way.
dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permitsWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on SR 522, a dead battery at Tolt MacDonald Park, or help on Snoqualmie Pass is one phone call away. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after every trip if anything unusual comes up. And because RVezy is a peer-to-peer marketplace, your host is just a message away for quick questions like how to switch to propane or where the gray tank valve is. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Kenmore.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Kenmore RV rental across the border into Canada?
Often yes, with a little prep. Vancouver, BC is about 2.5 hours north of Kenmore via I-5, making it a popular cross-border RV road trip. Cross-border travel depends on the individual host's permission and insurance coverage, so message the host directly from their listing before you book to confirm Canada is included. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. For Canada, you'll need a passport for everyone in your party and you'll declare the RV at the border like any vehicle. Pro tip: popular cross-border itineraries from Kenmore include Vancouver Island via the Tsawwassen ferry and the Sea-to-Sky Highway up to Whistler.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my Kenmore RV trip?
Realistic numbers help you plan: campervans and Class B rigs typically get 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10-14 MPG, and big Class A coaches get 7-10 MPG. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, usually shaving 4-6 MPG off normal mileage. Gas prices in the Seattle metro tend to run higher than the national average, so as of recent months you can budget around $4.50-$5.00 per gallon in the Kenmore area. A weekend trip to Mount Rainier (about 200 miles round trip) in a Class C will cost roughly $70-$90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Bothell or Woodinville before heading east, prices climb noticeably once you're up in the Cascades.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Kenmore?
Washington campgrounds book fast, so plan ahead and you'll get the prime spots. Washington State Parks (like Saltwater, Deception Pass, and Kanaskat-Palmer) open reservations 9 months in advance through the Washington State Parks reservation system, and popular summer weekends fill within hours. King County parks like Tolt MacDonald open reservations earlier in the year. Private parks like Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell often have more flexible availability and can sometimes be booked just days ahead. For July and August, aim to book 4-6 months out. Pro tip: if you strike out on weekends, Sunday-through-Thursday stays at Washington state parks are far easier to grab and let you enjoy quieter campgrounds.
parks.wa.gov/make-reservationWhat are driving conditions like around Kenmore, WA?
Kenmore driving is very manageable once you know the patterns. SR 522 (Bothell Way) is the main route through town, four lanes and RV-friendly, but it gets congested during weekday rush hours (7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.). Avoid I-405 and I-5 during those windows if you can. Heading to the mountains, Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 is wide and well-maintained year-round, but check WSDOT before crossing in winter, chains can be required November through March. Coastal trips toward the Olympic Peninsula involve narrow two-lanes (Highway 101) where you'll want to take it slow. Pro tip: leave Kenmore by 9 a.m. on Friday for weekend trips, you'll skip the worst of the Seattle metro outflow.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time/mapWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Kenmore?
Most campgrounds around Kenmore are well-equipped for a comfortable trip. Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell offers full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, sewer), showers, laundry, and a sanitary dump station. Trailer Inns RV Park in Bellevue has full hookups plus a pool. Washington State Parks like Kanaskat-Palmer and Saltwater offer partial hookups (water and electric) with centralized dump stations, plus flush toilets and showers. For dump and water fill near Kenmore, Lake Pleasant RV Park sells dump access to non-guests, and most state parks have free dump stations for registered campers. Pro tip: if you're boondocking off-grid in the Cascades, top off water and dump at Lake Pleasant on your way out of town.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/kanaskat-palmer-state-parkWhat features come standard in a Kenmore RV rental?
You'll get more than you expect. A typical motorhome rental in Kenmore comes equipped with a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave), private bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette that converts to extra sleeping space, air conditioning, propane furnace, fresh/gray/black water tanks, and seatbelts for every passenger. Most rigs include a TV, and many have WiFi hotspots or smart TVs. Campervan rental Kenmore options are more compact but include a kitchenette, sleeping area, and often a pop-top. Class A and C rigs frequently include onboard generators for boondocking. Pro tip: check each listing's amenities list carefully, and message hosts about extras like bike racks, kayaks, or outdoor speakers, many Kenmore hosts love the lake life and offer water gear.
dol.wa.gov/vehicles-and-boats/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons can I get with my Kenmore RV rental?
Kenmore hosts offer some excellent add-ons that make the trip easier. Common options include camping chairs and tables ($15-$30/trip), bedding and linen packages ($30-$75), kitchen kits with pots and utensils ($25-$50), bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards (perfect for Lake Washington right out of Kenmore), generators, and propane fills. Many hosts also offer RV delivery in Kenmore for a flat fee or per-mile rate, and some allow flexible pickup/dropoff windows. Mileage policies vary: a typical Kenmore rental includes 100-150 free miles per day with extra miles charged around $0.35-$0.45, while some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages for road-trippers. Pro tip: bundle the linens, kitchen, and outdoor gear up front, it's almost always cheaper than buying or hauling your own.
dol.wa.gov/vehicles-and-boats/recreational-vehiclesHow does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Kenmore, WA on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, no cash or off-platform transfers. A security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before the trip (the amount is set per listing) and is released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, typically within a few days of your return. To avoid any issues, do a thorough walk-around with photos at pickup and dropoff, return the RV at the agreed fuel and tank levels, and respect the mileage policy. Pro tip: use a credit card with a high limit for the deposit hold so it doesn't tie up your spending money during your Kenmore RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV overnight in Kenmore itself?
Here's the local insider scoop: the City of Kenmore restricts overnight street parking of larger RVs and trailers in residential zones, so don't plan to crash on a side street. The good news is you've got better options just minutes away. Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell (about 5 minutes from Kenmore) is the closest full-hookup park and welcomes overnight stays year-round. Washington also allows short rest stops at state highway rest areas if you're passing through. For a full Kenmore experience, have the RV delivered to your driveway (if local zoning allows) or head straight to Lake Pleasant after pickup. Pro tip: book your first night at a campground, not on a street, you'll sleep better and avoid a ticket.
