Campgrounds and RV parks near Maltby, WA

The area suits mixed itineraries: outdoor mornings, suburban errands, and dinner in the evening. Woodinville's wine district sits minutes from Maltby, and the Burke-Gilman and Sammamish River trails connect Bothell to Redmond for easy biking from camp. Families typically use Lake Pleasant RV Park as a base, with wooded hiking trails and large catch-and-release fishing ponds and a playground on site. Vasa Park Resort offers lake access and picnic areas on Lake Sammamish. Day-trip range covers Seattle attractions, the Cascade foothills around North Bend and Snoqualmie Falls, and ferry access to Bainbridge Island. Mount Rainier and North Cascades national parks are both reachable as long day drives or overnight side trips.

Peak camping season runs from late May through mid-September, when daytime highs are mild, rainfall is at its annual low, and Cascade trails and passes are open. July and August are the driest and busiest months. Reserve private RV parks and Washington State Parks well in advance for these dates, especially for holiday weekends. Spring and fall are shoulder seasons. Wildflowers and waterfalls peak in May and June, while September and early October bring quieter sites, warm afternoons, and the start of fall color. Rain picks up sharply in late October. Winter is the wet season. The cool-season storm track delivers the great majority of Seattle's annual precipitation between October and March, with the wettest months, November, December, and January, accounting for roughly half of the city's annual rainfall by volume. Many higher-elevation Forest Service campgrounds close from October through May due to snow and access issues. Lower-elevation private RV parks near Maltby, including Lake Pleasant RV Park, generally stay open year-round, which makes the area a workable cool-weather base when mountain campgrounds are shut.

Sites at the closest private parks tend to be paved or graveled with full hookups, 30 and 50 amp service, and a mix of pull-through and back-in configurations. Lake Pleasant RV Park features about 119 full hookup campsites that are big-rig friendly, with free WiFi, a dump station, and pet-friendly policies, along with bathhouses, laundry, and on-site propane. Expect traffic on I-405 and SR 522 during weekday commute hours, especially heading toward Bellevue and Seattle. Plan arrivals and departures outside peak windows when possible. Weather is the main variable. Bring layers and rain gear even in summer, watch for marine cloud and morning fog, and check pass conditions on US 2 and I-90 in winter and early spring. Wildfire smoke from regional fires can affect air quality in late summer.
