The location gives RV travelers access to campgrounds on both sides of the river, plus quick highway connections via I-77 and US-50. Most nearby options are small, privately owned RV parks with full hookups, supplemented by one Ohio state park within a short drive.
Blennerhassett RV Park in Belpre and American Way RV Park serve travelers who want paved pads and utilities close to town. For a more traditional outdoor stay, Forked Run State Park lies about an hour downriver on the Ohio side and offers lake access, hiking, and a public campground with electric and non-electric loops. Carthage Gap Campground and Ashland RV Park round out the closer options for RV travelers based in the Parkersburg area.
Most visitors use Lubeck as a base for Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, riverfront trails, and day trips into the surrounding Appalachian foothills.
Things to do near Lubeck
The signature local attraction is Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, reached by a sternwheeler ride from Point Park in downtown Parkersburg. The island features a reconstructed Palladian mansion, guided tours, horse-drawn wagon rides, hiking trails, and picnic areas. Public excursions run from May through the last weekend of October, and the island is closed on Mondays except for Monday holidays such as Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Forked Run State Park offers boating on a 102-acre lake with a 10-horsepower motor limit, a sand swimming beach, disc golf, and several miles of hiking trails through hardwood forest. The adjacent Shade River State Forest adds hunting acreage and quieter trail options.
In Parkersburg and nearby Marietta, Ohio, families can visit the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History, Fort Boreman Park, and the Ohio River Museum.

Summers are hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, while winters are cold with regular snowfall. Rainfall spreads fairly evenly across the year, with June typically the wettest month and November trending drier.
Late spring through early fall is the practical camping window. Blennerhassett Island is only open from May through the last weekend of October, and at Forked Run State Park only Area 1 stays open from November 1 through April 1, with the Area 1 showerhouse closed from early December through the end of April. Sternwheeler schedules to the island vary by season, so travelers should confirm dates before booking.
October brings peak fall color across the Appalachian foothills and special island events such as Mansion by Candlelight. Private RV parks including Blennerhassett RV Park stay open year-round for travelers passing through in shoulder seasons.

Private parks including Blennerhassett RV Park, American Way RV Park, Carthage Gap Campground, and Ashland RV Park take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Summer weekends and fall foliage weeks fill fastest, so travelers should reserve as early as possible for holiday periods.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a working river valley rather than a wilderness destination. Blennerhassett RV Park sits on 11 acres across from the Ohio River in Belpre, with 77 level full-hookup sites on concrete pads, 30- and 50-amp service, city water, sewer, WiFi, and laundry. Cell coverage across the area is generally reliable near Parkersburg and more variable at Forked Run.
Forked Run State Park is quieter and more rustic. Sites sit on ridges above the lake, some loops rely on vault-style latrines, and reviewers report that certain pads may require leveling blocks. The park has a dump station, a sand beach, boat ramps, and a disc golf course.
Roads to Forked Run include narrow rural sections along State Route 124, so drivers of larger rigs should check routing in advance and plan fuel stops in Parkersburg or Belpre.
