Campgrounds and RV parks near Belleville, WI

Belleville sits in the rolling hills of southern Dane and Green counties, roughly 20 miles south of Madison in Wisconsin's driftless-adjacent farm country. RV renters use it as a quiet base for the Sugar River corridor, Lake Kegonsa, and the Swiss-heritage village of New Glarus a short drive west. Camping options range from primitive state park sites to full-hookup private resorts. New Glarus Woods has small, primitive campgrounds that provide 18 drive-in campsites for tent, pop-up and small recreational vehicle camping as well as 14 walk-to sites for tent camping. Lake Kegonsa State Park Campground offers 96 family campsites in a heavily wooded setting along the shores of Lake Kegonsa, with twenty-nine sites featuring electrical hookups. For RVers who need more amenities, Sweet Minnihaha Campground and Crazy Horse Campground sit along the Sugar River near Brodhead, and Badgerland Campground is just outside Stoughton. Together these five properties cover most trip styles, from bare-bones tent camping to family resorts with pools and full hookups.

Wisconsin state parks use a single reservation system. Reservations are available through wisconsin.goingtocamp.com, with a two-night minimum stay required for advance reservations May 15 through October 31 and three nights on holiday weekends. Camping reservations for outdoor campsites can also be made by calling 888-947-2757. A Wisconsin vehicle admission sticker is required for park entry. RV renters should confirm site type before booking. At New Glarus Woods, only Sites #52 and the ADA accessible site #53 permit up to two-wheeled campers, and the campground does not have an RV dump or fill station. Private campgrounds including Sweet Minnihaha, Crazy Horse, and Badgerland book directly through their own websites or by phone. Reserve summer weekends well in advance.
