Campgrounds and RV parks near Bohners Lake, WI

Bohners Lake sits in western Racine County in southeastern Wisconsin, a short drive from the Illinois border and the Lake Geneva area. The surrounding landscape is rural and lake-dotted, with public land managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources within roughly 20 to 30 minutes of the lake. RV renters use it as a base for Lake Geneva, Kenosha, and the northern Chicago exurbs. Camping options span state-run and private grounds. Richard Bong State Recreation Area features two family campgrounds with 217 sites, including 54 with electric hookups, and six group campsites accommodating up to 225 campers. Big Foot Beach State Park has 100 campsites, 34 sites with electric pedestals, and a campground with a dump station, vault toilets and a shower building. Private parks fill in the gaps. Fox River Recreation sits south of the state line, Coachmans Terrace Park is in the greater Lake Geneva area, and Kenosha County Fair Association offers event-adjacent camping in Wilmot.

Wisconsin state parks use a single reservation system. Camping reservations are required for all campsites and can be made up to 11 months in advance of the planned date of occupancy. Campers must make a reservation before setting up on any site, and sites can be reserved online or by calling 1-888-947-2757. This applies to both Richard Bong State Recreation Area and Big Foot Beach State Park. A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles stopping in state parks, forests, recreation areas, trails, and campgrounds. Stickers can be purchased online or at individual properties. Private campgrounds such as Fox River Recreation, Coachmans Terrace Park, and Kenosha County Fair Association book directly through the operator. Popular summer weekends fill early, so lock in dates before finalizing an RV rental.
