Campgrounds and RV parks near Genoa City, WI

Water dominates the itinerary. Geneva Lake offers a public shore path that circles the entire lake, plus swimming, fishing, and boat rentals in the town of Lake Geneva, roughly two miles north of Big Foot Beach State Park. Chain O' Lakes State Park across the state line covers more than 6,000 acres and borders three natural lakes, Grass, Marie, and Nippersink, plus the Fox River, giving paddlers and anglers extensive connected water. On land, Big Foot Beach State Park has short, level hiking trails, a swimming beach, and playgrounds. Wilmot Raceway runs Saturday-night dirt-track events through summer, and the Wilmot Flea Market draws crowds on Sundays from April through October. Family stops include Fox River Park and Silver Lake Park in Kenosha County.

Peak camping season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Big Foot Beach State Park operates seasonally from late April through mid-October, and the Kenosha County Fairgrounds campground is open May 1 through September 30. Turner Lake South at Chain O' Lakes is a Class B-Premium area that fills quickly on summer weekends. June is the wettest month in the Lake Geneva area, with frequent thunderstorms, so campers should expect muddy sites and pack extra tarps. July and August bring the warmest, most humid conditions and the highest booking pressure, particularly around Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends, when Chain O' Lakes Class A-Premium sites carry holiday-weekend surcharges. Shoulder seasons are quieter. September and October bring cooler nights and fall color, and off-season sites at Big Foot Beach become first-come, first-served after mid-September. Winter shuts down most campgrounds, though the state park grooms tracks on its east-side trails for cross-country skiing.

Sites in the region range from full-hookup RV pads at private parks to more rustic loops at state parks. Big Foot Beach has 34 electric sites out of about 100, with gravel pads, fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilets, a shower building, drinking water, and a dump station; there are no water or sewer hookups at individual sites, and the maximum RV length is around 40 feet on most sites. At Chain O' Lakes, Turner Lake South is a Class B-Premium area with primitive sites, pit toilets, and a shower building shared with the neighboring loop. Kenosha County Fair Association offers 30- and 50-amp sites, restrooms with showers, and a dump station, but sits next to Wilmot Raceway, so Saturday nights can be loud through the racing season.
